Every time I tried to get into Oblivion I just couldn't. I would install it, play for like an hour and then uninstall. It was just boring, then they outdid themselves and released Skyrim which was even more boring, at least it was nicer to look at, Oblivion looks disgusting.

hgec, face overhaul, protective female armor, guts leather, new idle and walking animations, script extender is my go-to start. I don't have any of the expansions so none of the level scaling mods work, so most of my playthroughs ended shortly after level 10.

Do not use LOOT for Oblivion, it will fuck everything up.
Install with wrye bash, only use OBMM for mods that require it, even then you're better off making BAIN archives instead.
