I wanted to like this game, I really did.

All jokes aside though the fact that Chloe was just such an thoroughly and wholly unlikable person without a single redeeming quality kind of killed the story. How was I supposed to feel bad about letting her die when the story had done nothing to make the audience empathize with her? Kind of a shame because most the other characters were likable. Even Jefferson and Victoria.

Well it was pretty obvious 5 seconds in that Chloe was a lesbo and that Max was curious. I didn't like how Dontnod fucking refused to allow a hetero relationship with Warren though. Instead, they genuinely thought they made Chloe good enough to be the romance option and that choosing that dumb cunt over an entire city would be a valid option. Chloe got whinier and more bitchy as the episodes progressed until it got to the point where I couldn't stand her. Then I found out it was Anthony's Burch's sister, which made her even worse

Or rather—the characters and their arcs are great right up to the end; but the plot fails them, trying to be poetically tragic by gratuitously punishing the characters and leaving very little satisfactorily resolved.
Play the game for great characters and you'll get them, but you'll almost have to write your own ending to feel any sense of closure.

Even though the ending was shitty, I still really liked this game. It had slightly more gameplay than recent Telltale games with the rewind mechanic, I liked the aesthetics and thought the soundtrack was pretty fucking good. My problem was the ending and the fact that you could rewind choices and see their consequences (or at least the people's responses) made choices less meaningful, but I guess choices not mattering is a theme for these types of games

Well most of it seemed to be fairly lesser known artists, which I'm sure helped. They even had an Alt-J song I liked. I did liked the original composed music too.
I am no longer buying any of these episodic games before they are all out. They just plummet in price. It went to $10 a couple of weeks after it ended. Telltale GoT is $5 right now and Tales from the Borderlands is like $3.75
Lots of people liked it which made me buy it, but I just thought it was okay. GOAT soundtrack though.
