Just have the different moves be different weapons.
Like up smash is thrusting a lance up. Up b is upswinging a greatsword, and using it in the air pulls you up and backwards because of the momentum.

Up B would be Insect Glaive launcher because "Muh new weapons", as would Down B being Charge-Blade guard point, but it'd actually be a counter, since every character has to have a counter apparently.

Nah, standard B is launching the insect and calling it back. You can get different buffs based on whether it hits them at the front or back.

Doesn't have to be a counter, it could just be a standard attack, just slap super armor on it and if you sweetspot an attack it deals massive damage. Give it a long recovery if you wiff guard pointing so its not spammable.
