I never understood what people liked about randomly spawning level scaled enemies.
It just fucks up the way the various zones of the map feel so you can play rooty tooty pointy shooty in an engine with awful gunplay. I never really got that feeling in Fallout you get in, say Stalker, when you see two groups murder each other or you get attacked by something in the Zone.
Having more patrols and stuff to liven up the wasteland is fine but Bethesda just plasters shit everywhere because all their games are poorly designed themeparks.

I don't agree. The Vault Dweller had a pretty decently clean slate. Sure, you knew they were from a vault, but knew nothing about their expertise, talents, abilities, interests, etc. You could impose a character on the vault dweller. In fo4, it makes no sense to have low charisma as a former lawyer.

Oh no, no I agree that it's got it's own problems. The plot is railroaded for you as much as it is in Fallout 3. If not more so. But it's only in New Vegas where you have the choices available to really play the storyline with some role play.
What I'm saying is that at least if we're stuck playing the same character no matter what, there is some realistic background involved. The Male protagonist's background makes his ability to jump right out of the vault as a walking murdermachine more believable. Fem protag? Yeah, that's hard to swallow. I agree there.
The Lone Wanderer's back story was too unbelievable. Vault 101 was too fucking silly to exist even in a Bethesda game, but they did it anyway. There was just too much going on there that expected you to just ignore the glaring plot holes in order to finish the game. But I guess "LOL BRAINWASHING!" is enough for Bethesda.
