GBA version has a somewhat less fun translation (Item, spell, and enemy names are more consistent with the rest of the series, but the script isn't as good as the SNES version's even though it's more or less uncensored now), brightened and stupid looking colors, and poor audio even with a restoration patch. At least it has bugfixes and some bonus stuff.

Sound patch still isn't as good as the SNES's sound, though, along with the slowdown still present but not as apparent.
The best version is the SNES version with either Ted Woolsey Uncensored hack or the Relocalization hack if you want more accuracy. GBA is really only cool if you care to play it portably on the actual system or you really care about the tacked on extra content.

It looks exactly the same if you lower the pallet. The font isn't that bad either. I don't get where this complaint of it looking like shit is coming from when it's identical to the SNES version sans the font and the brightened pallet, with the latter of which being fixable.
