For all the shit people give him because of memes he's actually the most well rounded final fantasy protagonist.
I picked up FFX HD a few days ago and upon replaying the game I'm realizing that I actually like him a lot as a protag. 'Goofy jock' isn't an archetype you see for the MC of a jRPG all that often.
Yuna, on the other hand, is a lot more bland than I remember, probably because 'outwardly meek priestess with inner strength' has been done to death.
