It's aged fine. Animations are a bit stiff if you're used to Mass Effect, but they're serviceable. They're both classic WRPGs. Expect a slow start for both of them (you won't get your lightsaber for like 8+ hours) but you'll have a great time.

They both use classic D&D style gameplay, so in that regard they're timeless.
Both are fantastic, with 2 (with some minor content fixes) being one of the best RPGs ever.Even without the restored content mod, KOTOR 2 is outstanding.

I dunno about good & evil in Alpha Protocol. Toward the end it felt like everyone had their own agenda and motives, and every side was just a different shade of grey with nobody really in the right or wrong.
Thorton can be pretty ruthless in some playthroughs true but it doesn't really feel like he's in the wrong and any point unless he's made a mistake or uninformed decision. Killing characters off doesn't make you feel like you're doing something bad, it just feels like you're cleaning up loose ends since many of them wouldn't think too hard about killing off Thorton either.
Alpha protocol does make it feel like your choices truly matter though, better than almost any other game i've ever played.

First one has one of the best twists of all time. I mean - luke I'm your father-tier twist. If you haven't heard of it don't try to look too much on the internet for help - someone might accidently (or not) spoil it.
Gameplay mechanics are good, because they are not action-y so nothing aged too much. Combat animations are delicious, still look great, especially when you finally get a lightsaber.
Second one is even greater, though I'd get restored content mod from moddb or wherever. It;s simple download and copy-paste, and you get much more of the experiance. Still, one of the best written games of all time, and probably the best written Star Wars thing next to ep. V & Vi (except Ewoks ofc).
Also Handmaiden is the best girl. And there's Kreia - she does something no dev would allow these days. She mock you. Often. You can either tell her to fuck off like impatient faggot or actually listen to what she has to say that is commentary on whole Star Wars light/dark split.
Replaying both as we speak.

After the first planet, your class will change, and if you level up you are permanently locking yourself out of high level shit for your new class because the game has a level cap and doesn't retroactively give you new abilities.

He should level up a couple times though, he'll have a shitty time on Taris with no skills, no attributes and no feats. I recommend capping yourself at level 6 in your first class. You can maybe push it to 5 or even 4 if you want.

Honestly i haven't found one that even came close to Kotor. To this day it remains the only game i played where i went wit the bad route on my first playthrough. It felt so right, betraying all those around me for power, turning Bastila to the dark sideof my dick...uhm so good.
I usually play the good guy as well because i like being good and there is never any emotional attachments or con sequences for being evil, in most games the Evil route is you just being an edgelord or a massive fucking twat to everyone.

what I liked about KOTOR 2 was the fact that there were segments where you had to divide up your party to complete different objectives, so it actually felt like your whole crew was involved. I wish KOTOR 1 did it for the last location in the game, with the evil side punishing you by forcing you to only use your PC plus the few crew members you had left to do everything but rewarding you by prepping you better for the final fight against the boss.
