Maybe if it does well, they'll make one for 40k. They could really milk the fanbase with how much shit you could put as DLC it scares me. Throw in 30k/Horus Heresy DLC with a campaign that has battles from the books and they'll drown in money.

Some of the stuff in 40k makes sense and some parts are about as realistic as anon having a gf. Its better to just not take 40k all that seriously. Bolters are basically gyrojet guns with a kick charge but stuff then you have stuff like the psykers who are basically wizards.
>>319931937
Sadly.
I bought it on release because my bro and I are fans of 40k and love us some co-op, but it turned out to be an extremely short and ridiculously easy twin-stick shooter.
If you guys think that space marines are the biggest thing suffering from the "I am too heavy to be real" syndrome think again, having a huge walking cathedral mech sounds cool on paper until you take into account that it weighs so fucking much that it would sink to the ground.
>>319932072
SCREAM TO BE HEARD
>>319932632
it's pretty well known that damn near any mecha from vidya/anime/etc would be too heavy to support themselves structurally and would collapse under their own weight
maybe that's why most mecha shit is in space

Never played a total war game, but a few friends had suggested it. I looked it up after I read about the guys who making it getting some of the warhammer licenses and the first thing I said was "total warhammer 40k". A horus heresy expansion would just be the icing on that cake
>>319932701
"They leveled their outlandish weaponry at the enemy battle line, and the whining of their weapons built steadily to an earsplitting crescendo. A second later, a wave of sonic energy ripped through the Space Marines, splitting armour and bursting organs. Those that still lived fell to the dirt, wracked with brain-damaged spasms."

Very few but while I haven't played the game I get the feeling that it has probably aged like sour milk.
How is Dawn of War 2 compared to Dawn of War 1? It looked like they almost went full MOBA or something. Does it retain any traditional RTS base building stuff?
Just finished reading the Eisenhorn Omnibus, now reading Horus Rising.
>>319932868
What about all the Wraith warriors? Isnt wraithbone light as hell?
>>319933384
>Does it retain any traditional RTS base building stuff?
No.
>>319933737
I don't get it, is it just like those levels in Starcraft where they make you run through a level with a limited selection of units?
Is it really full MOBA land now?
>>319933384
No base building, smaller and fewer squads, plays more like Company of Heroes than DoW1.
It's still a lot of fun IMO. Squads are more customizeable and gain experience as they fight, making veteran squads much more effective than fresh-faced rookies. There's cover mechanics, so firefights are no longer conducted in the Napoleonic style. Flanking and outmanouvering your opponents is a big thing.
All in all, it's different but still good. I'd recommend picking it up.
>>319933838
>I don't get it, is it just like those levels in Starcraft where they make you run through a level with a limited selection of units?
Yes.
>>319933384
That Space Marine looks like Not Important
>>319933384
>How is Dawn of War 2 compared to Dawn of War 1?
Its pretty good, but its almost a completely different kind of game.
The squad commanding is fun, and the hero/special units are more interesting.
Building and upgrading your heroes is pretty interesting.
I only played Retribution's single player mode, but its pretty good (besides the fact that all factions have the same missions), so if you want to play it, play as the space marines (if you want to see the official continuation of the story, that is), play as the orks (the dialogue is priceless), and your favorite faction (for fun).
>Does it retain any traditional RTS base building stuff?
Nope, just squad building and upgrading stuff.
>>319933384
2 has no base building
can't talk about multiplayer because never played
but singleplayer is kinda rpg-ish
you get 4 hero characters
said hero characters have 3 "skill trees" each that go up to 10-15 point or so
you get quite a shitload of points and you can divde them however, getting fancy abilities and passive shit in the progress
there's also shit like different weapons, armor, miscellanious items (think grenades, aoe shield, medpack, turret)
can't remember if it was in base 2/chaos rising, but at the very least in the third game (i forgot the name i'm sorry) you can opt to swap out heroes for a commando-version of a unit you're able to call in in-game (you can have a couple of u nits with an all-hero squad. more commando units = higher food cap = more units)
>>319933384
Yes, and no. Dawn of War II and Chaos Rising forgo base and unit building. Those two games, however, do have decent campaigns, because it is a handful of marines facing down a shit ton of enemies, which is enjoyable.
Dawn of War 2: Retribution brings back unit production. The campaign is not as good as DoWI or II, but Diomedes is incredibly funny and you get Chaos and Tyranid campaign options.
>>319934370
>Tyranid
I don't remember anything like that being in the game.
I do remember this one campaign-esque thing where all you do is select all your stuff and a+click your way around.
Perhaps you're confusing the two?
>>319933010
Iron Guard for life.
>>319934745
Dawn of War II: Retribution has the option between Blood Ravens, Chaos, Tyranids, Orks, and IG campaign options, if I remember correctly.
>>319934032
You could swap the commander units for a squad of a special unit + a bonus passive (like ditching X hero will allow your devastator marines to shoot while moving and remove the delay before shooting).
>>319934745
Retribution allowed you to play the campaigns as any of the factions (eldar, space marines, IG, orks, tyranids or chaos).
