Too much time wasted for button config.

It's worth it to ascend from peasantry.

If video games are your hobby and you're not a fake gamer, you will make time for inconvenience in order to have the best possible gaming experience.
>>
are you faggots incapable of arguing without your epic fedora meme. everyone knows the problems with trying to use pc for a tournament, which is why it's such a pain in the ass to run a melty tournament.
>>

>everyone knows the problems with trying to use pc for a tournament

No they fucking don't. Every time a major FG tournament is being streamed, the thread on /v/ gets hounded by steambabbies asking this shit and getting weirdly angry when answered.
>>
>>319911591
Getting mad when your favorite game genre is being represented by shitty consoles isn't weird or unreasonable
>>
>>319911880
>favorite genre is fighting
>plays on peecee
sorry m8, that's not how it works
>>
>>319911880
>favorite game

The people I'm talking about have generally not even played the games. They don't give a fuck about video games, they're just PC hardware enthusiasts.

Why isn't the keyboard FGC's number 1 controller
>>
>>319911459
What is the problem? Or at least, what's the problem of using the PC version for spectator mode?
>>
>>319912013
I sure as hell ain't buying a casual-machine.
There's still a great fighting game community on PC. It's smaller but has a much lower percentage of fags and shitters
>>
>>319911880
>favorite game genre
If it were their favorite game genre they'd already know why tournies run consoles.
>isn't weird or unreasonable
Actually it's pretty fucking weird/unreasonable/autistic to get mad about something like that, especially since consoles are superior for offline tournies due to sheer convenience and standardization.

PFFFT.

Spoken like a true redditor who will never, ever go to locals because he might see a black person and pass out.
>>
>>319912428
Button config/driver issues would make tournaments take twice as fucking long and if something breaks (which will happen) it's a lot harder to figure out the problem. It's a logistical nightmare compared to just having a bunch of identical PS4s.

Also pretty much every fighting game series is one or two versions behind on PC besides Street Fighter and the pro community is always gonna be on consoles just so everyone's on the same, tournament-standard platform.
>>
>>319912716
Why play locals when you can play online senpai?
>>
>>319912529
>it's smaller
All communities on PC die within the first month

>>319913162
You can't seriously be asking this question?
>>
>>319913120
Everyone plays on PS4 for tournaments, causal watch and buy PS4s, fighting game devs support PS4, PC gets shafted again for fighting games and version updates even though it's a better platform.

Most of the time the PC version is utter trash dumped onto Steam to make a quick buck off desperate "P-PC Master Race" types and then never discussed again.
I think GG Xrd is the first time a fightan on PC is getting support and fixes as a matter of fact.
Also because the console version is always first and everyone becomes acustomed to it and moves on typically by the time the PC version even comes out
>>
>>319911403
>If video games are your hobby and you're not a fake gamer,
What does that have to do with tournament setups? You're retarded for not realizing the problem with needing to have multiple PCs with identical setups compared to a console.

When making these strawmen, you're supposed to make them say something wrong.

Because even the minuscule amount of lag online renders it quite a different game.

I know /v/ is underaged as fuck and responds to new, disagreeable information with senseless anger so I'll keep this short: fighting games are designed and balanced around a lagless environment and play significantly differently online even if the amount of lag on both ends is equal. There's also the fact that fighting games have traditionally always been a grassroots, local, in-person type of multiplayer and getting legitimately good at them requires more involvement than, say, CS:GO or League of Legends where you can just boot up the game on the laptop you told your parents to buy you "for school" and hit the matchmaking button and have a pretty accurate experience.

Since everything I just said amounts to "fighting games are ideally played in person and generally on consoles" it's pretty obvious why /v/ can barely discuss them without sounding insane.
>>
Name one fighting game that's better on PC.
I play nearly most fighting games on my PC, and I see no difference worth making a change for.

Up until Blazblue was released the only acceptable way to play fighting games online was on GGPO and the community was huge.

Net code on retail titles is real good now though.

PC versions usually come out later, and more people have capable consoles. It's also a LOT easier to take consoles for setups at a local than bothering with taking a whole PC rig.

also, believe it or not, a lot of FGC dudes are normie as fuck, so it only goes to figure that they would prefer console.
>>
>>319913692
If you're playing against someone with a halfway decent ping with a 1frame buffer on rollback net code. The online play had less lag than the MC sticks and displays the fgc overwhelmingly used for years. You can totally have a good experience online if the net code is up to it.

You're right and wrong. Online play potentially could be fine, but it's not in the most popular games right now.

All I play is TTT2 and not being able to tech throws online is actually the most frustrating thing.

Consistency, price and accessibility. It's cheaper to setup 10-20 consoles where people can just plug and play their fight sticks rather than the same number of PCs that might have different hardware and inconsistent experiences while costing more. Plus some fight sticks might not even work without installing drivers.

Xrd for example seems to work fine on mid to high end PCs, but has problems on lower end machines which you would need due to the sheer number of machines you would need.

True and I would add the steam version of KoF98UM in with that.
