The entire world map isn't open to you from the start. The episodes could end at points where the accessible world expands. It won't, because it would require that the each episode has the explorable world of the previous episode, plus it's own addition, which obviously doesn't work because it would mean the final episode has the entire game world in it, which defeats the purpose of making it episodic anyway.

It's never stated but confirmation is physically in the trailer (the deceptacon buster sword clearly on Cloud's back). I hate everything about Crisis Core too (cissnei being way up the list of things I hate about it) but it's clear what they're going for here. That's not what I said at all. What I was saying is that each new episode should almost act like a huge expansion pack of the first episode as long as the original episode is installed. So it you buy episode 2 only it's just a stand-alone game limited to whatever areas are featured in the episode. But if you have episode 1 and then buy episode 2 they connect organically like Sonic 3 and Sonic & Knuckles did, and the areas from episodes 1 and 2 are accessible.
