This game is a fucking masterpiece.
The alternate history with all its intricate details, the fluent and fast gameplay, the fucking amazing soundtrack and the cool characters! (fucking hendrix, oh my god!) Also, the amazing voice acting, especially for ze germans (i am german and it's amazing how they got better voice actors for it than for every single game that's originally american and then german dubbed).
The final boss is a blast, with the second stage being infuriatingly hard on higher difficulties.

So how does "the old blood" compare to it?
>>
This is literally copy and paste enemies - the game as well as hold 1,000x weapons at once - the game. AI is braindead, levels all look the same.

Fuck your retarded opinions op

>"choice" is choosing between saving one or the other person at the beginning

i am playing through this game right now and it's so fucking bad i just want to quit. i almost threw it away when they revealed that jews are mystic technology wizards.
>>
>>319881465
I played through the whole game of the hardest difficulty and the final boss was easily the easiest part, especially the second stage. They give you so much ammo it's a complete joke. Unload all rockets and gg

That said, it's the only game to come. Out in the last 3 years I've actually been able to enjoy. Pretty damn fun. Just got The Old Blood on sale a few weeks ago
>>
>>319881465
i was actually just about to make a thread for this

what? I didn't have ANY ammo at that point. I was left with only the Laserkraftwerk, knifes and a few granades before entering the room.
>>
>>319881809
>Levels all look the same

did we play the game, because you definitely didn't

>Bridge level
>Prison level
>Warzone level

Granted the color pallet made the game look samey, but the level design changed up constantly, save for level retreads.

Also OP, Old Blood is a nice romp, at least the first half. The second half shows signs of greatness, but doesn't live up to the theme.

>barely any unique and interesting guns

loved all the guns, a good mix between old school wolfenstein and fictional space nazi technology. Every weapon and firemode had its purpose. They all felt really powerful when used correctly.

>press x to pick up ammo, weapons, armor

I think this added to the challenge of it, and also gave the developers the opportunity to place items in places where you can't walk over

>enemies are all the same, except for the bullet sponge shotgun enemies/giant robot suits

I simply didn't think so, there was a good variety with the dogs and the different heavy soldier versions as well as the big robots

>boring gameplay design; fps cannot just be linear shooting anymore.

I expected a linear shooter which gives me "freedom of gameplay" in the way that I can approach combat situations in different ways and that's what I got. But I loved crysis 2 as well, so...

>"choice" is choosing between saving one or the other person at the beginning

That was a little weak, it kind of seems like an odd decision to give you a choice ONCE and every other aspect of the game plays out in such a linear fashion
>>
>>319882376
Pretty damn fun game also

>If you go to sleep on the couch un the uppest level, you will play the first level of the first wolfenstein

>>319883172
sorry, i don't think generic shotgun/assault rifle/pistol and slowly upgrading them is fine in a linear fps in this year.

there are literally 4 enemy types: dogs, soldiers, heavy soldiers, and big soldiers.

>freedom of gameplay
occasionally you can use stealth, otherwise game forces you out of it and you have to do shooting.

wolfenstein is fucking mediocre and all you have to see is what other fps are doing in order to innovate the genre.

>>319883373
i chose the mistake of playing on console, because it only cost me $8 to get both wolfenstein TNO and old blood together on xbone. still is dumb game design. if you want me to press x to pick up the gold items or secrets, that is fine, but picking up ammo is a fucking nuisance and you have to sometimes be standing over it in just a right way to do it without looking at it.
>>

>i almost threw it away when they revealed that jews are mystic technology wizards.
That sounds rad thou
>>
>>319884306
I meant the "freedom of gameplay" thing in another way: the stealth option is just one part of it. As an example, there's a scene in the submarine with a green room in which stealth is not possible. But it allows you to maneuver in various directions through the room and pick your path and ideal weapons to overcome the challenge. This is not something present in call of duty for example where you can't do something like "run through the area and try to attack them from behind". I'm talking about a certain freedom to approach combat situations.
>>
>>319882629

The bridge level was fucking amazing. The change of pace, the PC's reaction to it at the beginning, just everything.

I had a blast with TNO, it's one of the few that I bothered to 100% on Steam. There was such a good variety of levels that it just never really got old, and the gunplay and design of the combat areas were both quite good.

And not all of us enjoy the way these devs are "innovating" (read: ruining) the genre. TNO is exactly what we wanted. A traditional, back to basics FPS with meaty, well-crafted gameplay. The only real problems with it are the rarity of boss fights and how short it is.

>>319887784

I mean, no matter who you pick one of them spends 16 years as a brain in a jar and the other one calls you out on your bad decision, so that's not really an argument for either side.

Each of them ultimately thinks you should've saved the other one and goes full asshole mode at least once in their story.
>>
>>319887971
Wyatt's argument isn't as rational as Fergus. Wyatt basically tells you you should've saved Fergus because he had more experience/ Fergus tells you you should've saved Wyatt because he was younger and full of promise. Either way the resistance is basically at the same point 16 years later, so why wouldn't you choose the guy that can carry on the fight for longer ?

>>319888475
The monitor was lame. And really cheap on uber.
>>
>>319888667
Op here, I also found the monitor quite lame. Too many options for hiding, the thing was sluggish and each of its attacks took too long to activate. It was impressive, but gameplay wise a little disappointing. They could have EASILY fixed it by making its attack animations much faster on harder difficulties (like 2 seconds before he fires his main laser blast instead of 5 or six)
>>
>>319888878
Monitor was scary shit at first, then i leaned quickly that the corners of the underground were essentially safzones from the cannon/rockets
>>
>>319889107
Exactly. The second stage of the final boss has a much better environment, without a single safe zone, quite the contrary: The environment gets more hazardous and difficult to traverse the longer you fight, which was just brilliant, IMO.

It's because of their greater cultural emphasis on technology that is implied. Still it's a bit questionable, because the real moon landing was an indirect consequence of the cold war between communism and capitalism, it acted as a prestige project in the "race to the moon". No such systemic war existed in the New Order timeline, so why would they want to go to the mun in the first place?

The Old Blood is pretty good so far (i am at the beginning of the town). What bugged me was the beginning with all these robot mofos and you only had that pipe.
I imagined it to be more like RtCW. But every now and then I feel the game reminds one so much of it that I don't mind anymore.

Yes, the game has it's flaws but NO had an awesome script and detailed characters. Also, the hints on Blascowicz being a Jew himself and saying his polish is bad is actually quite gud. I liked all of the characters a lot.

So far, OB is "just" a shooter. Not much story so far.

But it's ok and compared to other shooters it's still refreshing.

Agreed, though all the yelling the grandfather did from the truck during the Checkpoint mission was a bit strange if you're trying to do it stealthily. Especially during the last segment when there are two guarded outposts clearly within earshot and his yelling voice carries on forever, yet the guards never notice.

This.

You see so many heroes that go "woe is me, I'm too obsessed with adventure and violence" (e.g. Nathan Drake) but nothing really makes you give a shit.

There's something beautifully tragic about BJ and him ruminating over his exhausted soul and the fact that he may never find real happiness in the world, and none of it is incongruous with BJ for a propensity for explosive violence, whether it just be his creative ways to gut a Nazi or executing a man with a chainsaw.

The ironic tone augments this, and in the hands of a more indulgent or less competent writer/development team the whole thing could've fallen apart.

For all the time they put into the specifics, there were some little things that bothered me in a historical sense.

I believe the game implies you're found on the Baltic coast of Poland. That irked me.

I wish there was some more thought put into the yellow map of the großgermanium (which is the same in TNO and OB, btw). Like, areas the Nazis considered Nordic historically are colored differently to signify they're a part of Germany proper, and other areas show colonies and zones of interest. I was bothered a little that the Nazis directly control all of Iberia and Italy, but Scandinavia and Russia do not appear to be included.

What do you guys think?

they should have given Doom 4 to the guys who made TNO.

historical accuracy isn't required in fiction

I don't know. Personally I just found the poetic soldier thing to be a bit of a tired cliche and the inconsistency between his musings and what he actually says aloud in the game irritating.

A for effort though.

Frankly, they make everything hilarious. The game is practically a nazisploitation movie slightly covered for the inattentive and the contrarians that don't play games. You have a big bad badass having heartfelt monologues while killing nazis in every creative way possible, nazis on the moon, ancient jewish Iron Man armor donned by a crippled woman that aborted a child to keep her nazi K/D ratio high. And Jimi Hendrix.
