2nd boss I beat, 1st one I saw. It's tough because at that point you don't really know what's weak to what. I got kinda lucky when I beat him, but oil urn + molotov (both of which are found in the area) take him out quickly. Also, if you don't have a serrated weapon and haven't leveled up, you won't do much damage.

Not how it works.

The real casual filter is Vicar Amelia. Gascoigne is very easy if you have any understanding of the parry system which you should by the time you reach him, not to mention that you can use the music box to stun him a couple of times for free hits.

>Gascoigne is very easy if you have any understanding of the parry system
Casuals wouldn't.

Each of the bosses is there to teach you something.

Gascan is to remind you, "Hey parries and viscerals work on bosses, try that shit"
Cleric Beast, to me, is all about, learn to use your camera
Amelia and BSB are there to remind you to use your fucking inventory when you fight.

That being said either BSB or Cleric Beast is optional, but not both. One of them has to die.

Because the Platinum is a testament to purely your skill at completing and just exploring the game. You don't need to autistically find 300+ random items, you don't need to grind for 0.0001% drops, and there are no multiplayer mandatory trophies (the biggest deterrence).
>>
>>319848015
That's what makes him a casual filter. He's only beatable by those who are either good, or learn tactics. 36.1% of players didn't beat him, that's the game's final point of asking "can you play this game?"

His beast form is pretty unique in comparison to all other beasts you see in the game.

Plus, we know he was sent there for a fact. ALL blood-addled hunters get sent to the Hunter's Nightmare after they die. There is no exception to the rule based on what we have learned in the DLC.

I meant to say that if we saw him we would know its him because of that.
>>
>>319849889

Yes but he'd be in hiding from the other hunters who, judging from the way the beasts react, have been abusing them extremely viciously.

The angry, ferocious Papa G would be just like them, cowering in fear or hiding in some cave scared to leave.
>>
>>319849898
Miyazaki is my uncle - if you consume all 5 umbilical cords, all enemy dialogue on ng+ is replaced with "umbasa, good hunter"
>>
>>319850051
>The angry, ferocious Papa G would be just like them, cowering in fear or hiding in some cave scared to leave.
Why? Not all beasts are like that. half of them actively try killing Hunters and the other half cower in fear. The fact that Gascoignes beast form is a hulking werewolf hat stands on hind legs makes me doubt he would just run away at the sight of a hunter. Plus, we don't even know if it's because they're small, slow, defenseless beasts or not. Other large beasts like the Blood-starved Beast have no qualms with trying to kill the hunter after seeing him once.

>>319850356
You mean PS+?

Yes, you can't do coop and stuff, but you can do 100% of the game without PS+.
>>
>>319850256

The BSB is protected and hidden in the cave though, the only beasts that fight back are the ones in the caves and thats because they are sheltered by Djura's companion. They are shielded from the old hunters and thus maintain their savagery and instincts.

And Ludwig too I guess..but Ludwig is protected by the Church Giants so I doubt any hunters made it to him to fight him.

Anyway, Papa G arriving in the Nightmare would be swarned by the Old Hunters, who cant die, and he cant die either. So it would be a perpetual war between them that he would eventually lose and go into hiding.
>>
>>319850356
Yes? What makes you think you wouldn't be able to?
>>
>>319850469
>the only beasts that fight back are the ones in the caves and thats because they are sheltered by Djura's companion.
Are you completely forgetting about the group of beasts in the square that attack you when they see you? They're near the Boom Hammer guy. What about the ones on your way to the Grand Cathedral? They fight you as well.
>>
>>319850476
the fact that sony literally a kek about everyrthing and charges me to update my console. updating a solo player only thingy like bloodborne to make jewbucks is expected

How would he lose a never ending war?
>>
>>319850564
>the group of beasts in the square that attack you when they see you?

They cowered in front of me until I turned my back, that just shows they're too scared to face me head on like their real world cousins. They havent been completely broken yet

>What about the ones on your way to the Grand Cathedral? They fight you as well.

Yes they do fight and I honestly have no answer for why they do, all I can theorize is that like the ones in the square they arent completely broken yet like the ones that cower.
>>
>>319850657
There are beasts in the square which will walk up to you and beat the shit out of you even if you don't turn your back to them. They're near the gate on the far end of the square right near the Hunter with the Boom Hammer.
>>
>>319850625

He's outnumbered and alone, unlike the old hunters. Also unlike the old hunters he has the option to give up the fight and run, they can't. They're insane and can't stop hunting and killing.

He'd eventually reach a point where he'd just run or avoid fights.
>>
>>319850893
But unlike other beasts he isn't weak, dumb, or slow. He's pretty much a hunter on steroids.
>>
>>319850767

I believe that they aren't broken yet either.

There is a reason certain groups of beasts cower in front of you, its to show that the Hunters have been killing them over and over for who knows how long. Some of them, either because they're newer stock or they're more stubborn, still fight on but they will cower just like the others, its inevitable.

Just because his breaking point is far beyond the others doesn't mean he doesn't have one. The other hunters don't attack each other, they work together. Gascoigne is now an outsider to that group, he is not invincible especially when he is alone.
>>
>>319847365
by that definition every game is a casual filter.

So I went straight from Oedon chapel to Lower Yarnham, is that the intended path? I found there was a decent jump in difficulty, but I just figured that was the step up from beating Gascoigne. I realize that Bloodstarved Beast is optional, but I like doing optional bosses, and I play in more of a "kill anything you run into" style.
>>
>>319856893
It's optional, you actually had to beat the cleric beast and buy some key for 10k shekels to open the door to another area. Now you can bypass the door and go through the old church workshop to get there though so you save the bloodechoes for the key.
>>
>>319856463

You can turn the HUD off in options. I think you could also in DeS/Das?

Certain context/interact messages still come up though...
>>
>>319856893
Yeah it's technically optional, but I highly recommend doing Old Yharnam (and all optional areas). Beating Blood Starved Beast will open up a previously locked door in Oeden Chapel and allow you to fully explore Cathederal Ward.

From there 2 more optional areas become avalbile, one of which I highly recommend doing ASAP for the Workshop tool, and the other you'll most likely find without trying.

I died to one of those hooded creatures with the sack outside of Oedon Chapel, who I had killed on my first pass by, but then it did a cutscene and I woke up in a cell under some kind of church filled with these guys. I found a cave that led out, but wanted to explore more inside, so I found the lantern and went back to the dream. This place seems a little high level for me, and it's part of a different section it seems. When should I try to go through this area?

The first area leading up to and including Cleric Beast. Also apparently there's another path, but he said that was too hard as well.

My friend bought the game and then quit because he couldn't do it. Which is fine with me, it just means he's happy to watch me play it when I come over.
>>
>>319852264
i'm fairly certain that they nerfed him from how he was in the original release. He used to poison you just by going near him during his later phases and after playing through new profiles when the old hunter released i saw this was no longer the case.

The poison mixed with a one hit kill grab attack and such made him pretty difficult as a first time.
>>
>>319858945
I like seeing the new enemies and stuff on NG+, but I hate how everything has so much more health. Yeah yeah, it's harder because you have more chances to fuck up, but I find it so boring when a default enemy takes like 20-30 hits to kill because I'm playing sub-optimally.

That area is pretty tough, but has a lot of great items for upgrading weapons and such.

Go back and explore more of Cathederal Ward, try find all the NPCs for sidequests, do the other optional area, then beat the Boss to progress the story.

After that return to Hypereon Gaol and fully explore it and defeat the boss.

I liked it throughout.

I felt it became much more creepy and unsettling after realizing that there's much more to the whole plague of the beast than it seemed.
The fact that nobody even suspected it turning out like that only added to the shock

Gasgoigne by far, he was the first boss I ever fought and he tought me how rough the bosses in this game were going to be. Sadly, Bloodborne if counted as a "souls" game has some of the absolute easiest bosses out of the bunch.

The exceptions not counting the old hunters are Logarius, Ebrietas, and Gerhman.

There's one NPC who goes to the opposite place you tell him to. He's harmless. There's one NPC who will kill other survivors if sent to the same place as them. There are a pair of NPCs who don't play nice with each other if you send them both to the same place and make one of them mad. There is also an NPC who dies if you use their service too many times.

I would of say Bloodstarved Beast since a lot of players stumble onto it whiteout realizing it's optional.

Outside of that, maybe Shadows or Gerhman. BB bosses really aren't that hard.

LOL this game is easy. You just have to hit the bosses with you weapon until they die. Is that realyl that hard?
>>
>>319858991
explore it before you kill Rom.
also on the lowest level you can find another NPC to be taken to odeno chapel/iosefka clinic. you just need to wear healing church's clothes.
>>
>>319853135
>no sepia filter
dropped
>>
Definitely Gas Can.
People with the attention span to actually explore will get the music box and probably figure out they should use it.
People with the balls to learn how to parry really good at the start will massacre him.
People who are skilled in dodging will be able avoid him and strike at the right moments, especially with the right weapon considering the whip is made specifically to be phenomenal in that playstyle.

A true casual won't be able to dodge or parry, probably not try the music box and if they do or they looked at a guide they will be fucked when it stops working after you reach the maximum number of times.

> What is Church Workshop and a part of Cathederal Ward. Not to mention finding the origin of the hunters dream and the Old Hunter Bone and a Third Umbilical Cord.

Killing BSB is pretty important.

I'll clear the confusion.

Cleric Beast is optional, you can reach Cathederal Ward without beating him. Once you get there the gates are locked, there are two ways to open them.

1) Kill BSB and go round the long way, open from behind.
2) Use the Hunter Chief Emblam to open the gate. It costs 10,000 echo's.

The Emblem is only for sale once you kill Cleric Beast. That's how they are both optional bosses, but not BOTH optional at the same time.

And to get all items/see all areas you need to kill both.
>>
>>319870675
didn't know he was a req for the emblem
makes a lot of sense, he provides you with sword hunter emblem and everything.

Obviously either way he was the hunter chief, but it makes so sense when you think about it... I don't recall a hammer NPC. Well, what if the cleric beast being huge was just a part of your crazed hallucinations, and you were actually just getting with by a dude with a huge hammer which was why it felt like it hit so hard?

The first Jak and Daxter game is even easier, just find all the collectables. 2 and 3 are a bit tougher though.

Ratchet collection is harder because most of the Trophies are tied to skill points instead of plot progression, which were basically the "use X weapon to do Y at Z location" Trophies before trophies even existed.

>>
>>319875620
Here's the thing about the DLC, it's just like an extra area of the game. You can't even get to it until a certain point about halfway through the game.

Beating the game resets it to NG+ and makes all enemies and bosses (including DLC) harder. Do the DLC on your first run.

>>319875704
Burgerland doesn't get a GOTY edition. Cheaper to buy it off Amazon and get the DLC separate anyhow.

Sure, tip number one, that isn't an arcane spell, it's bloodtinge.

two, go through like you normally would, only don't raise str or skl, play until you get a fire gem, either from below the workshop, or from some other source.

Put it on your weapon of choice.
