Runs like shit on the ps3 and isn't all that great, you can get it cheaper at a game stop.
The console version is fine, I played on 360 and had fun. Be warned though, the PS3 version suffers from performance issues. Also you can probably get it for less than half that at Gamestop.

it's a good game though. i would advise getting it on pc if you can. you don't need a very powerful computer to run it.

Let's say I get it on PC (I'm planning to save up enough to build one by next year). How does it compare to, say, Dragon's Dogma? Obviously, the action isn't comparable but how's the adventuring aspect? Atmosphere? Customization? If I enjoyed Dragon's Dogma, can this even compare?

If you can into modding the possibilities are pretty immense.
There's mods that rework the entire perk trees, change up how you level, even shit that makes shit like food and warm clothes a necessity because being cold/starving/wet can lead to death.

Vanilla, dragons dogma has more customization and engaging gameplay.
Skyrin can be modded to be a completely different game up to a point.

Personally I think you'll get a better understanding of what you want mods to change once you've played through vanilla, though I'm sure there are minor things that people could recommend.
You probably want the unofficial patch though, since that's bugfixes.
Then you'll know if you want to just overhaul perks, add immersion mods, loli rape mods, whatever.

Technical issues aside, i thought it was Bethesda's most boring title yet. The cities were small and too far from each other. Bethesda's awful scripting also made me miss many of their "cool" segments, or sometimes outright miss characters running to talk to me.
Fallout 4 bored me just as much. It's making me wonder if I even want to look forward to any of their titles next time.

DD has much better combat, much better customization, much more fulfilling adventuring since every area and quest isn't a copy pasted draugr tomb, better atmosphere, especially post game when everything gets fucked, and the atmosphere is also great in bitterblack isle.
The only reason to get Skyrim is for sex mods.
So if you like tits poorly modeled by russians, buy Skyrim.

i liked it a lot more than oblivion. i really hated how people would obnoxiously sprint towards you to talk to you in that game. and skyrim's cities are a bit small but they're stylized and layed out different whereas almost every city in oblivion had the same format : big cartoon circle of wall, couple houses, fort, and church all in the same format. and i loved how far away they were, it was as if it were an actual world. in oblivion, you can literally see the imperial city from bruma. as in, it's the game admitting that this city has no need to exist but the game needs another city so they stuffed it in there regardless of the logistics.
skyrim's scripted scenes are silly though. bethesda doesn't know how to do big action scenes.

As someone who played over 400 hours of it on xbox, then got it for PC I can say this.
It really feels bare bones on console compared to PC.
I modded mine to the point I was more afraid of freezing to death than actual combat.
