If you're third-generation or greater, and especially if your family doesn't hold on to a lot of the traditions of the old country, your cultural identity and nationality is that of the country you were born into.

Because they're aiming for a caricature not an actual portrayal. They could probably have gotten an actual Irish person and it would be slightly better. It's slightly impossible to be authentic anyway, whats the authentic Irish accent Cork? Dublin? Northern? etc?
