I'm a Marth main, but I use a couple others (Pac-Man, Falco, Jiggs). Marth has practically no advantages against these higher-tier characters. His range advantage is minimal. The reason Jigglypuff even works is because any scrub who tries to roll out of a corner can get Nair'd and juggled. With better players, they're better at controlling space, which eliminates not only her advantges, but Marth's, because none of his moves even have the actiove frames to last through the lag buffer (10 frames). In these situations, I am forced to use either Pac or Falco to zone, and that usually makes for long, grueling, unfun matches. I could play Mega Man and spam lemons/blades and not lose, but I won't feel like I've won. That's when the game becomes more like work than something enjoyable.

You see a more diverse playerbase at the top. There's more surprises and interesting shit going on.
Not only that, but watching American matches you can actually get excited and enjoy the match without people thinking you're an asshole and telling you to be quiet.
You're part of the action and your cheering and enthusiasm influences the outcome of matches.
