It gets tournaments all the time that often have pretty decent payouts. SonicFox got about 150k from DoA tournaments leading up to EVO.

I like the perspective that DoA was an absurdly testosterone-driven romp, but I feel that it's largely a retrospective glance rather than a full-on analysis of what it is. DoA as presented in the past is really contradictory to itself in many ways, namely by juxtaposing big-tiddied babes and huge gruff dudes with a laughable art style and extremely poor characterization.
Of course modern DoA suffers from a completely different double bind, but that's beside the point when you're trying to glorify how it was.

That is complete and utter bullshit. DoA5 had probably the most "dudebro" marketing of all the DoA games. It didn't do much for the sales. Marie Rose was added long after the initial release of DoA5.
It's fun to play casually with friends. Especially those who aren't really in to fighters. You can just pick it up and get the basics down and don't have to worry about much else.
As far as 3D fighters go, it's probably my favouritebecause I still don't own SCV and I've missed all those opportunities to grab it dirt cheap. Otherwise, that would be my favourite.

Core Fighters is the online demo. You can try that out. But I'd recommend just grabbing Last Round retail somewhere since it's fairly cheap now.
