My experience of good games is that they are good from the get go, I can't think of many games that were dull as shit for 40 minutes but then suddenly got good.

Bayonetta had an hour of context-less cutscenes and tutorials with 5 minutes of gameplay that didn't actually matter as the first level and that turned out to be a great game.
Terraria is boring until you grind enough lenses for the first eye fight and start playing the game from there.

Here's my complaint for the comedy (not that guy you were responding to). Pretty much all of the major elements of comedy are ideas that can be seen on the internet quite often. Plenty of people try to make puns to get top comments on other sites and people like to make fun of anime fans. Even some of the smaller elements like the typeface jokes with Sans and Payprus are well known ideas. My problem is that it never expands from these ideas. It just takes the jokes that are known to be "funny" and replicates them in the context of the game.
It also doesn't give you a lot of breathing room. I never felt attached to characters or the story because of how constantly there were being jokes shoved in my face. (Also that the characters and story are poorly written but that isn't what we are talking about).
I also just don't find any of that humor to be funny to begin with so there is also that.
