Why is /v/ so terrible

I really need to push through this game. I get bored around Threed, every playthrough
>playing Earthbound in 2015
Not saying it's a bad game or anything, but the medium has surpased it since then. Unless you have some kind of personal emotional attachment to the game there's no real reason to play it over Undertale.

Why on earth do you assume it's one or the other?

/v/ is reddit

except gameplay, writing, length, creativity...

Don't bother, it's a false flagger trying to get a rise out of you.

Actually laughed out loud at this, literally. Again, Earthbound had some novelty for its time but it doesn't even begin to compare to undertale's fusion of traditionally slow paced turn based RPG based on strategy and highly intense bullet hell and even platforming segments requiring twitch reflexes. And that's not even going into the brilliant fourth wall breaking gameplay mechanics which are coded into the very essence of the game, not to mention playing a huge part in the story...

>run away at every encounter except bosses
>puzzles non existent
>bosses are little minigames but don't require any decision making or any use of rpg elements
yeah great gameplay you got there. Earthbound, while being simplistic actually was an RPG and did some things different.

If you honestly think stats like HP, MP, items and equipment are better forms and role playing than the emotional involvement you get from Undertale, I don't really know what to tell you.

Well it was a fun discussion but looks like we've taken it as far as it's gonna get :)
