So /v/, am I the only one who feels that Zero is a non-character in the series, and kinda pointless as well? Like sure he's important in MGS3, but in all other games it does feel kinda worthless to have him as the general head of Cipher. It's like why even do it besides just to give Big Boss a personal connection to an enemy group?
He didn't seem that important in MGS3
Didn't really need to feature anymore
The irony is that the same thing happened to zero that happened to the boss. Somebody took his philosophy on how to create world peace and twisted it around

I enjoyed him as quirky guy who enjoys spy movies while doing codec calls. But other then that, yes, he is not important.

Zero being promoted to the ultimate "Big Bad" of the series in MGS4 was one of the stupidest things a video game has ever made me endure.

Yeah, that was pretty bad.
MGS4 being "Everything needs to be tied together!" was overall bad in general.

worse part is that it isn't elaborated on in peace walker or mgsv

Fukushima was a true hero.

Yes.

But Metal Gear 2 was great.

It's weird how without him, the story kinda turned shit. Like somehow he's part of a machine that really makes the story really over the top, while also giving a certain amount of grounding.
