BROTHERS! STRIKE FOR THE CHAPTER, AND THE DAWN OF WAR THREAD
For those who still play this game, there are some great mods out for it. Firestorm over Kauvara is still being developed after all this time. Next big release is supposed to have the Tyranids as a playable race.

Holy shit, I had some good times with this mod, didn't know it was still being developed
>Finally, after all these years, it is the DAWN OF WAR for this planet.

The writing of 40k has always been... Something. See CS Goto and Matt Ward.

But muh infantry become inconsequential at that scale. My HQs are going to become an afterthought when the Volcano Cannons start going off.
we will move ahead
and mark any enemy positions

Still kicking. They released a new version early this year, and have released some preview stuff for the upcoming Tyranid integration. I don't have any idea how to find people to play against online, but they've apparently been doing a lot to make the AI less retarded.

it's from 2003. And honestly it's not that bad.
>>319717243
Part of it is that the Firestorm mod is a ridiculously intricate overhaul. The bar above the unit information was added by the modders to allow more upgrades and units to be added into the game UI. It's amazing what these nerds can achieve sometimes.

I've been playing this game and UA for a couple of weeks now, what's the difference between Firestorm and UA?
>>319718282
Fuck you, fuck your space skeletons, and fuck your spooky pyramids that spam Gauss like it's a rave of new years eve.
>>319718454
FoK is basically vanilla on drugs. It's a high quality mod that brings everything in line with codex rules, and adds everything they can from the codexes into the game (so shit like Chaos Khorne Terminators, Eldar Wraithguards, Ork Lootas, Space Marine Devastators, etc.). They also are big on updating all the models and texture to more modern standard.
Compared to UA, it doesn't upscale everything to Titan scale. It keeps everything around the original Tabletop scale. But there is a ton of content there, and tons of customization and interesting units.
>>319718732
Do you think it would be possible to install Firestorm without having to completely uninstall UA?
>>319718914
I haven't given UA a whirl yet, but all DoW mods are modular. You pick which one to enable in the mod manager on the main menu. You can have both installed, and just toggle between the two, unless UA does something really screwy with the game itself.
>Necrons are pokemon trainers now instead of space terminators
is anyone looking forward to total war: warhammer?
>>319719494
Looking forward to pirating it, yeah. Fuck them for making Chaos pre-order DLC
>>319719597
It was probably to drive up sales. Would have made more sense to make Vampire Counts DLC, but it probably wouldn't have sold as well.
>>319715106
BROTHER, I WILL TAKE IT!
>>319720158
Well regardless of the intent they lost my sale. And judging by the dislike ratio on the youtube trailer, they lost some other sales as well.
They probably would have been better off with the vampire counts, to be honest.

>>319719494
It might be good, especially if the game is at least as moddable as recent Warscape stuff has been. But it's going to be expensive as hell with the holy fusion of Games Workshop and Sega making sure DLC gets cranked out for years and years to come. Assuming any form of moddability, I will pick it up once everything is out, bugs are fixed, and shit starts going on sale.

Necrons were ridiculously OP in DoW.
Their basic fighting unit, which was better than most factions basic fighers, were completely free, you only needed to worry about one resource instead of two that you didn't even need to worry about expanding for and the commander unit could be upgraded with wargrear that would instantly bring any dead necrons to life in a huge AOE on a fairly short cooldown.
>>319717567
>>319720751
Don't forget the Necron Lord which could become invulnerable, shut an entire army's entire ability to use range weapons, and able to easily slay almost every other commander in CQC.
>>319720751
Necrons got discounts for each obelisk they built though, and while Warriors were free, their build time increased for each squad on the field. Plus they needed relics like everyone else.
>>319720279
I'll still buy it most likely, but I might just wait for a sale. I've waited too long for this game, and regardless of DLC practices it looks like legitimate effort is being put into it.
