You know those games that "detect" when they are pirated? Like GTA4's wobbling camera and other games getting stuck in loops or become unbeatable?
How does a game know if it's pirated? If games can become unplayable when it's pirated, why can't it just be broken from the time you press Start? Why even allow it playable at all?

That's what I've been saying my whole life
It's really just an attempt to break the pirate's spirit, or sometimes it's just a cruel joke. I'm sure developers spend their days asking questions like "Why the fuck would someone even want to play some shitty version of our game?" It isn't even worth worrying about.

99% of games do this genius. It's only the 1% that lets the player start the game and then do something silly.
