Roy can be defined as fucking good in casual / low competitive and shit in high competitive terms. Untrue to his game (Thanks Sakurai) he lacks the Binding Blade's projectile and in Sm4sh if you don't projectile camp you might as well SD.

Yeah but improvements to his neutral have made him really dangerous. His off stage is horrible but he doesn't need to go off stage to guard.
Literally all of his moves aside from throws are kill moves, he has so many options. His ftilt puts most characters' fsmashes to shame. They both do bad against zone busters but Ike is almost safer at this point.

Most tier lists have him somewhere around the upper half of mid tier. None of the Fire Emblem guys are really top tier but Robin is the best of them afaik and Ike/Roy behind him
Roy is a character where if you know what the fuck your doing he's easy and if you dont your fucked. His Standard B and D-tilt can rack up some damage on recovering opponents, and hes got alot of kill moves. But his recovery is below average in terms of height, so just get him down low enough and you've got him.
