I recently bough disgaea 5 and have played through the main story and trying to do all the post game stuff. Iv just unlocked majorita and void and Im not sure how to progress now. Currently only way I have to level up and progress my dudes is to level them in the item world. How do I unlock more stuff to do?
Also, how do you make the enemies stronger like in the older disgaea titles?

go with psp version, it's better
and it hardly matters where you begin -- although if you're thinking to play them all starting with the first is mostly best. The gameplay improvements of each entries makes it hard to go back if you start with a later one.
If you just want to play one or two of them so you don't get burned out, I'd skip to D4 and/or D5.

gonna need more if want carnage baal, one problem with D5's baal is that each core kills on of your character when it's destroyed
there's 4 to destroy sure but gonna end up alone for the last one
although after the big baals are dead you could bring a male angel out (no more panel damage) to revive one
aptitudes felt decent quick after you can get miss evil everytime, but yeah it gets kinda long/old with many chars, mine only in the 250-280% or so.. still let me hit 99M stats with 3 maxed traps (didn't level up weapons)
Swords and Spears just don't look good on her, in my opinion

There's a set of like 4 or 5 quests which the reward is another challenge quest. Finish all 5 of these and you'll be able to suggest the bill for moving on to the Carnage Dimension
It's shit like Kill an Item God, Discover a rank 35 netherworld via research, Finish a 3rd difficulty (overlord i think?) character world
