How don't you understand that people are interested in watching the best of the best compete in a very popular medium.

You might not enjoy it, but it's very understandable.

I'm pretty sure this is for people around 10-16 because when I bring my 12 year old to get togethers I just give him his ipad and he watches cs go matches and jontron

this shit is actually great for parents but i don't see the appeal, i was playing the games when i was his age instead of watching someone else play them.

While I dont like the term e-sports, I get people wanting to watch high level competition of a game they enjoy.

Now lets players, theres something I do not understand the popularity of. Why would someone choose to spend money on watching some random shmuck play a game that they could be playing themselves? Not even stuff like game grumps which is free and 40% video games and 60% friends telling stories and being dicks to eachother, but people straight up paying money to watch gayballs666 play Mine Craft on a custom server. It just boggles my fucking mind, just cut out the middle man and play the games yourselves

Especially those valve crates to unlock to get "awesome" skins.
>>
>>319692752
I can understand things like Jontron where they play bad games and make fun of them, even having some sketches thrown around here and there. But things like Pewdiepie, Markiplier and pretty much just anyone else that's just playing the game and talking all the time is just extremely boring.
>>
>>319692225
I agree that there are a ton of forced e-sports, but some games are fun to watch at a high level. it's subjective.

forced e-sports imo

there couldnt be anything more boring to watch than WoW as an esport

e-sports as a commercial product just digusts me, and the viewers and culture surrounding it is literally the worst.

Lets players are pretty bad, but that's mostly children watching so I don't judge too much. It's easily accessible and easy to digest stupid entertainment and it makes them feel like they're part of a community.

I don't understand the SJW outrage on both sides, there is a middle ground that nobody seems to really look at. There's so much misdirected vitriol that I wonder what you guys actually expect to accomplish.

I don't understand grown ass men being gaming platform internet warriors.
>>
I don't watch esports, but I get why people would. It's the same as watching football or baseball - sure, I can play baseball and have fun, but it's even more fun to watch actual pros do their thing

I hate lets plays, too. If I am interested in a game, I'd play it myself. I don't want to watch a knucklehead make lol randumb jokes while playing it.

Why the fuck are there so many of these? Do people just like having things numerically sorted? Are they genuinely autistic?
>>
>>319692225
How is it hard for you to understand that people who are good at something like to comelete, and other people like to watch people who are good at something compete? Do you not understand real sports either?

Personally, I don't watch esports or real sports but it seems very obvious to me why others would like it. If you lack empathy to that extent you most likely have some kind of autism spectrum disorder.

The thing I personally don't understand is why lets players are so popular these days. "It makes lonely people feel like they have friends" is probably the best analysis I've heard so far.
>>

Console wars. Like, I can't tell if all those "nintentoddler" vs "sonygger" threads are all just ironic shitposting or whether some of you autistic spergs are actually serious about this stuff. I mean, are you like 10 years old? Why do you pledge allegiance to a company and shitpost any threads about games on a platform you don't own? Do you really feel so insecure about your purchase that you need to justify it by insulting people who made a different one? People who unironically wank on about the "PC master race" are just as bad.

If you're limiting the games you play to a single platform, you're missing out on a lot no matter what system you choose.

Realistic sports games
I don't see the appeal at all
>>
>>319693551

I've played WoW to 2,6k rating. Which was high for the average playerbase at a time when there was much rating inflation.

For players below a certain level they can't appreciate what's happening. I guess that's true of most games with even a hint of mechanics required, aka anything but Mobas.

However watching cata and wotlk competitive was the fucking shit. The 2011 blizzcon final match was insane and the 2009/2010 MLG circuit for WoW was incredible, the story-line of even just what compositions turned up to the tournament was incredible it changed every tournament from not just balance changes but even metagame and scaling. EU KR and NA all had different ways of playing the game and watching them mix was so interesting.

I do wish there was a game similar to world of warcraft from wotlk with just an arena mode, everything I've found is is too simple mechanically or plays extremely poorly. I've never found anything that scratches that itch though.

WoW is hardly forced though. It's just dead.

You're a huge hypocritical retard if you believe this. Playing DotA at a high level requires a lot more skill than playing WoW at a high level. >>319697810

2011 was Cata? It's definitely worse (which says a lot).

As a viewer it's still entertaining from time to time. But there's little comp variety. Mana does go to 0 often, but that's only because dampening kills mana or a cleave just has too big a throughput of damage.

As a player it's awful. RMD and Turbo Cleave are the number one comps. If you are queing anything else and there's an equal skill RMD or Turbo, you won't meet it because your MMR won't even be close enough.

They've removed a lot of "skill based" skills, and interesting things. It's just not fun to play right now. Leigon for PvP looks shit as there's even less skills. Find an alpha streamer and look at their bars. The used to be 5 bars full for most chars, now they have 3 half full bars as that's where their binds are.

Come back for the first month of Leigon, because every xpac is amazing when it opens because I don't know why. Then fuck off until the next one.

The issue with MMOs as an "esport" is that PVP in MMO's is a joke. There's to much of an emphasis on non-skill aspects to win. I have an issue with any game where your gear and the like make up more of an impact than your skill

Let's Players

I never understand the appeal of watching a video of someone else playing a video game, unless you're curious about buying it. These channels with "seasons" and "episodes" bring a whole new meaning to reality TV.

Gotta second microtransactions too. Watching this industry go from fun medium with lots of possibilities to turning video games into mini casinos has been kinda sad. Not surprising since business people only give a shit about fucking evert cent out of you, but still sad to see. I've been turned off from games cuz of the nickel and diming culture that has taken over.

WoW Arena has never had that problem for a long period of time.

Gear right now is standard for everyone almost. Which is a shame because there's no cool choices to make.

Sometimes certain items come out at the start of patches like trinkets or weapons and are really good but they always fall into line eventually.

Nine times out of ten you needed the standard easy to obtain PvP gear to be best geared.

Even if you wasn't you was competitive still and has an advantage in another way (usually you would be able to take more damage).

I'm just sick of every single game having them.

Like, I don't mind them in shit like MMOs where it's "Pay to get extra exp/gold drops or costumes or whatever", especially if the game in question is f2p, since that's probably where their profits come from to be able to maintain their servers and updates.

But if a game has a price to play it, with DLC on top of it, AND crates with shitty skins, it drives me up the fucking wall. And more and more games are doing it, it's obnoxious.

Depends on the MOBA. Pretty sure all of DOTAs characters (Champions? Heroes? Whatever) are unlocked from the start. League of Legends Champions are unlocked through either real-world currency or in-game currency which you get for winning.

Obviously, RWC means you get them faster.

This desu. Every MMO I've given a chance has some (mediocre) gameplay and simply get bored.

Otherwise, turn based games with human opponents are fucking great. Pokemon, Monsters at My Metro, Hearthstone... I have hours upon hours playing that shit.

Any recommendations?

Wonder how the future will be in 10 years, for me at least. I just dont get it how streamers and shit get that level of attention, and i feel like companies are part of the problem, they encourage all of this.

Tap water is bad for you. The toxin flouride and the estrogen from birth control pills, pesticides that make men sterile and queer, and other pollutants. Although bottled water is ten times worse because it's almost always just tap water that's been done the disservice of being left in a plastic bottle for a long time and allowed to accumulate a shitload of bacteria.
And the chemtrails aren't unhealthy. They're actually helping to keep it cool.
It's why air plane technology hasn't actually changed or evolved in any real way since the late 70's. Hell, after they forcefully decommissioned the concord it's been proven that it's been regressing.

>>
>>319705494
Who said that I said it was bad if people get mad? Who said that I don't like seeing people get mad? Do you lack comprehension? It's pretty obvious that most "competitive" gamers don't care about competition or anything like that, or else they'd just play a real fucking sport. More importantly, how can you claim you love competition when you purposely try your hardest to get any little advantage over your opponent? If you were that good, you wouldn't need to desperately look up guides on everything to beat that kid down the street. I know it's hard to accept that you wasted so much of your time not getting a real job and being a nigger, much like the people that think they can go pro in football just because they played in high school, but read this article to get a better idea of how wrong your bitch ass is.

>>
>>319707604

When MH fans express what they love about MH, it usually sounds like people expressing how much they love work. MH fandom marketing is “the love of work”.

“Boy, I really do love working!”

“Yes indeed!”

“But all those little people go around and just play around all the time! Not wanting to put in a hard days work!”

What am I paying for? Entertainment or exercise? Monster Hunter is nothing but the work. Basically, you’ll be spending all of your time farming until you have worthwhile gear before you can enjoy the game? Why can’t I enjoy it now? I’m paying for entertainment after all, right?

But yeah, SF and MH fags are just as bad as MMO fags that claim you can't judge a game before dumping 400 hours into it.

The smart way to use Metacritic is as a hubof critiques - that is to say, it's an easy way of comparing and contrasting various praises and criticisms. That all said, the scores are pointless and only morons and shitposters adhere to it.

Yeah but the main problem is for example with this generation is how the first year all three consoles barely got anything and everybody shitposted in based of "upcoming games"

Joking? We talked for a bit and it was pretty obvious he had autism. They actually had to escort him out of the place for getting to angry afterwards.

As far as I'm aware the causes of autism are still relatively unknown. They haven't outright said it is genetic and they haven't said it can be developed either, it's up in the air right now.

I think it's just a very weak, very vague umbrella term. Think of all the different kinds of autists you've seen, they're not all the same are they? The spectrum encompasses a lot of people you could easily see as just being eccentric or quirky, why we have to identify anyone who doesn't express normal social behavior as mentally ill is rather disturbing if you asked me.
