Just back the good projects.

Never
The "average" person is a colossal idiot.

Also, the updates are generally fucking blogs about the project lead's life. It seems highly unprofessional.

if only people cared enough about their money to hunt these faggots down

What if you pledged 1 dollars?

Or you can just do your fucking research and only back ones that have some degree of competence behind them
>>

But this had competence behind it

No It had noname devs hiding behind big names. Anyone that actually looked up the dev team realised that and walked away.

The project legitimately had talent on it
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1300298569/project-phoenix-japans-indie-rpg-feat-aaa-talent/description

Turns out you can't even trust vets of gaming.
>>
>>319693647
Who was actually in charge? It's hard to believe all that talent is just twiddling their thumbs and are working some incompetent jackass.
>>
>>319693330

Unless he was the director or producer of Valkyria Chronicles that doesn't mean much.
>>
>>319693647
>Turns out you can't even trust vets of gaming.
They thought they could succeed on their own but turns out that even the most talented need leaders and bosses to tell them what to do.

Same guy behind the Project Phoenix kickstarter makes convinces the creators of Under the Dog to reject offers for a 26 episode series and put the project on KS to prove that anime can be made without the influence of producers.

Once it gets funded, the writer holds the project hostage until Yura is kicked out and he can look for a real producer.
>>
I'm so sick of the literalwho kickstarters being advertised on /v/.

Hell, I'm sick of kickstarter period full stop.

Is this game any good? I want to get the PS4 version
>>
I backed 2 projects in total

One of them delivered what I asked, Wasteland 2

The other got fully funded and is expected to be released relatively soon, Battletech
>>
The fuck are they gonna continue developing for another 3 years with that small sum of money?

Hacks like Tim Schäfer run out of 3 million for a fucking adventure game where half the game is recycled anyway.

Larian are the only, and I mean the ONLY company I have seen that really deserve any crowdfunding they put out there.

Divinity OS was funded and it was amazingly delivered. Through the money they got from DOS 1 they funded DOS 2. They then opened up a kickstarter not for the game, but only for extras to add onto it to make it better.

And THEN for free they completely made an enhanced edition of Original Sin with full voice acting that they gave out for free to anyone who owned the first one.

Divinity Original Sin 2 is the only kickstarter I have ever backed. I payed for two copies of the game for my buddy and I, the same one who bought us the two copies of the first game.
>>
>>319699006
DoS, Wasteland 2 and Skullgirls were funded and delivered great. I have high expectations for DoS2 and Indivisible.
>>
>>319691297
Project Phoenix will still be done before Starbound anyway.

If you're a Windows user maybe. Linux users who backed the game after the promise of support are still waiting to even play the game. Console gamers, who weren't even included in the funding already have it, yet for Linux all they've done is delay after delay.
>>
>>319695379
AAA games aren't crowdfunded by potential buyers before the game is even out (yet.)

When an AAA game is delayed it's no skin off anyone's nose but the people making the game.
>>
>>319702167
People who use linux don't play games.
>>
>>319691297
>When will game devs stop requiring funding?

Probably never?
>>
>>319691297
Because goy are creatures with intelligence less than cattle.
>>
>>319702414
I can assure you that we do. That's why there are so many projects centered around getting games to run.
>>
So they're planning 3 years of development without any additional funding to pay people's salaries?

Yeah right. They've "delayed" it until 2018 in hopes no one will remember it existed by then.
>>
>>319702784
Let me rephrase: People who want to play games don't use linux.
>>
I'd never kickstart any game.

BUT, if you have, and you regret it (naturally you do, because it's fucking stupid), then there is a solution.

Dispute your payment/issue a chargeback. You'll have your money returned, and the devs will be hit with a charge too. Chargebacks/disputes is the way to end kickstarter.

>>319691297
it's almost like games get delayed all the time, and kickstarter projects are just more open about it out of necessity.

Hurts, but could be a lot worse. What do you people prefer? To NOT get the game or get shit like Mighty 9?
