Buying a PS4 this early has actually been a pretty stupid move on my part, spent 50 hours on DQH and over a 150 on Disgaea 5, now it just sits there collecting dust as I wait for anything else worthwhile to come out on it, which right now only looks like Persona 5, The Last Guardian, and Horizon: Zero Dawn interest me.
Thankfully I have a Wii U as well and XCX has been fucking glorious. I might not get hundreds of playtime out of it, but it's already been a better experience than those mentioned games I've played on the PS4 and I still play Splatoon occasionally.

Basically what happened before and during the PS360 gen is the rise of PC gaming and the mass migration. It's hard for developers to support PC when they make up a fraction overall software sales, demand that games be sold underpriced yet optimized for their unique hardware configurations all while the rest of the userbase engages in piracy.
As games continue to evolve and cost developers, they will simply continue to work hand in hand with consoles which will adapt to the changes with hardware iterations towards the end of it's life cycle. It is this infrastructure of complimentary support that actually holds the gaming industry together and drives it forward while also ensuring developers remain profitable and continue to make the games we all know and love.
PC users however ultimately reap what they sow, the state of the support for the platform is a testament of its failure. PC is largely supported out of necessity and without multiplats, it is dead, that is how fickle the line is between reality and the PC platform. Good hardware doesn't buy good games or revive a dead platform.
