Released on dead hardware and never even got a sequel.
So underrated it hurts thread.
Gorgeous game, feels like total shit to play.

>genesis
>dead hardware
how underage are you
Possibly prefer this to even Sonic. A real shame no sequels or anything. Nintendo's recent gimmicks would probably have worked well with it.
>The second part of the credits roll
>That song that is basically telling you that your journey has come to an end
>Ristar finally gets to see his father
>His giggle
>>319666337
Isn't that a mascot for a raisin cereal?
>>319666337
Does he have good porn
>>319667436
>Finally beat that ridiculously balls-to-the-wall Kaiser Greedy battle
>rewarded with this
it was worth it
>>319667436
I like the first part too, always find myself whistling it.
>HERE WE GO
>>319667658
>That fucking hardcore Kaiser Greedy battle
>Dodging his thunder
>Dodging his one-hit kill black hole
Fuck Eggman, now this is a real final boss.
>>319666337
Fuck yes, Ristar was great.I never managed to beat it in all of my time of playing, but I'd definitely play the game again. Is it on anything like the 3DS e-shop, by chance?
Also:
>R-eye-star
or
>R-ih-star (soft 'i', not a hard 'i')
Fantastic game. It's a little thing but i think my absolute favorite part is entire sequence after you beat a boss. I don't know, there's just something about seeing ristar going to the next world instead of just a score tally then fade out/in.
>>319668430
pretty sure it's the first one as he's a "rising star"
>>319666549
>feels like total shit to play.
kill yourself
>>319666337
How much of a fag are you
Also closest thing to a sequel or spiritual successor is Mischief Makers ehich is legit great
>>319667436
>>Ristar finally gets to see his father
Yuck...The International version of the story sucked
The Japanese version was much better with the Star Goddess Oruto sending her son Ristar to protect the Valdi System andKaiser Greedy surviving in the end hinting at a sequel
Every thread.
>>319668969
>pretty sure it's the first one as he's a "rising star"
It's not
It's R-ih-star as in it's a pun on "Wrist-ar" get it?
Just got it on my 3ds since you guys are talking good shit about the game
Made it to the first boss, it's pretty good
Second time already that /v/ makes me play a good game, I must be in a roll
>>319667962
>Fuck Eggman, now this is a real final boss.
What an idiot *facepalm*
You can't compare this to Sonic
Sonic was never meant to be challenging/hard like Ristar was
>>319669969
But it wasfaster
the play control is kinda eh and the later levels are just frustrating
however, it's sonic team's last good game
personally i think it was a cry for help. maybe if it had sold well then sonic team wouldn't have been stuck making shitty games for 20 years in sega's sweatshops
>>319669969
Guess it wasn't made to be good either...
>>319669109
Ristar is garbage lauded for being obscure, like NiGHTs.
>>319669932
Just wait until you get to Planet Sonata anon.
It's not even that hard, but the planet's gimmick is my favorite in the entire game.
>>319670343
>Ristar
>obscure
Man, it was on the Sonic Compilations for the Cube and the 360. I've never heard anybody call this obscure.
By comparison Mr. Gimmick would be unknown then.
>>319670657
Doesn't matter. It's seen as a Sega underdog and little played by comparison to the Sonic games, which overshadow it.
>the last boss battle music
>perfectly timed so just as he makes the black hole it picks up
fuck I loved that game
>>319669584
>Hinting at a sequel
Which never fucking hapPENED SEGAAAAA
FUUUCK
>>319669969
Guess you never reached the final boss in Sonic 2
So underrated it hurts huh?
May I present Pulseman. He and Ristar have something in common.
>>319666337
I'm confused about how Tempo got a sequel when Ristar didn't.
>>319672876
This.
And speaking of underrated Gamefreak games, Drill Dozer was fucking awesome.
>>319669713
I was gonna get this
I didn't because, well, look at it.
>>319674875
Same here.
Kept thinking maybe it was worth it, but the review made it seem really boring (Back when I still read them).
I wonder if it was actually good.
>>319666337
Still play it occasionally
