Xcom 1 was better because you had two weapons at the same time and you chose by picking engagement distance.
X-Com was too simplified but LW fixed a lot of that.
Really though Xcom 1 approached it more sensibly by implying you do attack runs instead of pretend aliens can't shoot in any direction.

Cant be more barebone than XCUMEU.
I like the cover because it's clean, original and abstract.
As opposed to most modern titles that go with cluttered, "dude with gun" and realistic.
My only complain is the skulls should have looked more dirty rather than having a plastic look.
