Small Guns, Lockpick and Speech are generally the best for hybrid builds.

close combat is important in the beginning so you should invest some skillpoints in melee weapons. they get phased out pretty quickly, so don't overdo it

I go with a build that gives me good melee and unarmed and then go with the healing skills (can't remember the names, one was doctor something). Then when I level up I put points into small guns
