I think OP's more pissed about people giving him money for content and him taking corporation money to market their product to his retarded fans.

Beagle was a lot better before he started the twitch shit like most people; when he was kilroys sideshow. Kilroy unfortunately went down the same annoying path around the time deadspace 3 came out and he took the advertising money too.

Hey look, another /v/ thread where fast food workers cry about people making money by playing video games and spout about "muh people who contribute to society need to be the ones getting paid"! Maybe if you had a personality you would be able to make money while playing video games too, what a shame.

I just don't wanna work, man. My closest friend is a twitch streamer and I envy her life so much. She has so much disposable income. She plays games (which she doesn't even need to buy because people literally just send them to her P. O. box or gift on Steam) watches anime all fucking day, shares a "streaming house" with other twitchers so has chump change to pay for shelter, doesn't even cook caus she's so wealthy she can literally order takeout every single day and have no worries, and she's always just hanging out and having fun with her circle of friends that I'm not included in because I actually have responsibilities that take up a majority of my time.

She's living and enjoying her 20's. We're both 25, she's had nothing but good times since dropping out of college. I've had nothing but stress. I'm exhausted, I'm tired of living. I want to die, but even dying is too much of a hassle. I'm always exhausted and have so little time for myself that I have no motivation to even start anything because I know I won't have time to finish it.

I'm jealous. That's all. She and her friends (mostly girls) won life. I'm bitter about it. I'm not even good at games.

I wonder if it's actually gonna last tho. Is it actually going to be a career choice, a branch of marketing a few years down the road or is it gonna die leave and a bunch of kids in adults bodies with no prospects.
I think quitting school to stream might be a mistake but the people who stream during their college years will have great successful lives. They get shitloads of cash which are gonna cover their expenses and come out of it with some sort of degree and no or small debts and able to start their work life.

The patreon page is rather deceiving.

He hasn't created characters in a long time. What he does now is take famous movie stills and trace them over with his style.

Well done to him though, he can pump out several of these in a day and then release them over the course of a couple of weeks. 32 hours work in a month for $60k, incredible really.

They make that in 3 weeks.

Another example:
Pic attached also does good art, doesn't make nearly as much. This is more on par with what they should probably be making.

They're girls. When the streamer bubble pops, they just need to find a fanboy that's decent looking with a nice income to latch onto until they get on their feet again.

That, and her free time actually gives her time for self development and she's self learning programming languages in her spare time. Y'know, caus she has so much luxury and free time that she actually still has the drive to naturally work on her own aspirations as well as indulge in her hobbies.

Things aren't worth the price people are willing to pay. Remember that app in the iTunes store that was literally an "I'm rich" app that coated like $10k and did absolutely nothing? People legitimately bought it. It objectively wasn't worth its price, because it was just an icon on your home screen. There's no way anyone could seriously justify that purchase for any reason other than wanting to spend money somewhere. Anyone else could make it for you and give it to you for free.

Their art isn't worth that much. It's worth enough to make a living off of, but that much excess is ridiculous.
>>
>>319656228

Only like 4 people in the entire world legit bought it though

I like his xcom iron man impossible stuff so I don't care. I don't spend money on patreon or twitch or anything like that anyway.

His main draw to the channel now is xcom. He quit shactac (I don't blame him, I hear they're a shitty group anyway) and his other stuff is just one off videos of various games he's playing. Why complain about xcom on a channel about xcom?
>>
>>319657746
>Not implied from my conclusion.
You said that the guy making 60k a month should get average pay for graphic designer just because you think that's fair or whatever the fuck was your idea.
You were backing that up with how many hours they work, so it's not that far fetched analogy to make that you think work hours = what the people are worth.
But that's now how it works. If people are willing to pay for something, that's what it's worth.

It isn't about being fair or unfair. It's about comparing similar products and skillset and getting an average price based off those, and seeing that this price is inflated as fuck. If you found out your coworker who has the same role as you was making $40k more than you a month, would you not come to the conclusion that either you're underpaid or he's overpaid?

The $10k app was sure worth $10k then.

The average cost someone is willing to pay is how much something is worth, since we collectively decide on the value of materialistic goods. If you purchased a fucking apple for $200,000, that doesn't make the apple worth fucking $200,000. Even if you found a munch of morons willing to pay that much for it, the fact of the matter is you can fucking get an apple for cheaper anywhere else. If apples, on average, coated $200,000, then that would be its value.

Pineapples used to be a luxury fruit that cost thousands for just 1 of them, and only royalty would buy it. That was the worth of the pineapple, because that's what the average price of it was.

You find the idea of laying thousands of dollars for a pineapple today to be outlandish, because they obviously aren't worth that much anymore. If someone asked you to pay that much for one, you'd deny it was worth it.

On average, a pineapple doesn't cost thousands anymore. On average, art of this level doesn't yield nearly $40k every 2 weeks. It's too much, relative to others in its field.
>>
>>319658924
I'd look at his contributions, his work history, education, and achievements. Then weigh that and see WHY he's being paid more than me.

Then you put in your two weeks and wait for a counter-offer. If you're given one, you were underpaid. If you're not, he's worth more than you. Some people do earn what they make. Someone is willing to pay them $60k a month for that work. Will that happen for the rest of their life? Maybe not. Deal with it.

That's like comparing a corporate pricing structure to a bespoke company. There's a reason you can buy a decent pair of dress shoes for $400 and why a made to order shoe by 6 people in a basement somewhere costs upwards of $2k.
>>
>>319659975
>32k per 2 weeks
>41k per month

Just pretending to be retarded right, senpai?
>>
>>319659447
>The average cost someone is willing to pay is how much something is worth, since we collectively decide on the value of materialistic goods.
That's now how it works.
Take high fashion for example, most people would only be comfortable paying what they pay for clothes regularly for something like those, thus the "average" should be way lower. Yet it's sold at way higher price points because there is a market that pays for it.
This isn't even opinions or something, you are literally wrong, learn how economy works.
