The AI in this game is the most rage-inducing, cringeworthy pile of utter fucking garbage I have ever had the misfortune to bear witness to in my entire life. Thank the good lord for piracy, since if I had listened to the shills on /v/ and actually paid money for this Nintendo would've thought they'd done something right.

I've literally had my fucking teammates, with the tactics set to LET'S GO TOGETHER, turn around, walk in THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION, and KEEP RUNNING AWAY FROM ME NO MATTER HOW FAR YOU CHASE THEM, and then promptly decide to engage a higher level enemy on their own and eat shit and die.

I have specifically set the AI to "follow me" to avoid situations like this, and they have literally IGNORED THIS SETTING, WALKED IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION, AND ENGAGED IN COMBAT. I have set it to "Don't Use Moves!" in a desperate attempt to get the fucking stupid teammates to stop fighting and RUN, and they remain in combat regardless.

Tactics do nothing. This is not a strategy game- this is a gimped, glitchy, poorly thought out mess with C grade animations and shit-tier story.

Do not go anywhere fucking near this open fucking gash on the face of video gaming, shit though the state of things may be.

>get in there yourself
It's a bit hard to do that when you're in combat with an enemy, and your teammates literally stand there in an L shaped block of spaces away from the enemy, refusing to either move in range or attack, and then, halfway through the fight, turn and walk in the opposite direction- evidently chasing some other monster that is perpetualy just off screen.

It is literally impossible to catch up with them if they're 2-3 spaces away all of the time, and by the time you do, you've been dragged through the whole dungeon, aggroed every enemy and half your team is dead.

You can't fight. You can't chase. You can't engage. The number of possible solutions to this problem is precisely and exactly zero. This is the result of flawed coding and poor game design, and nothing else. Nothing the player does or can do can prevent this.
>>
>>319624421
Nintendo wouldn't code anti piracy that way. They would either just block it with a Black screen or remove a feature that's necessary to progress.

Ah, I remember the days of M&L BIS Anti Piracy.
>>
>>319623918
they're probably just running to pick up that item on the other side of the room.
>>
>>319624497
This doesn't sound at all like the game I played.
How far into the plot did you get having such severe issue?
>>
>>319624497
There are items to round up your team if you want, if you want allies to stay in place and only attack nearby use wait there, and use get away from here if you just want them away from the enemy

There's also Alliances which warp everyone to focus on the enemy you are
>>
>>319624497
well, if no one else has this problem, then have you considered that it isn't a design flaw and you are actually shit at the game?
With Follow Me they will literally never move without you unless they're teleported away. With Let's Go Together, they will only approach close enemies that are attacking you and surrounding items. That is how it's programmed. That is how it works. There is footage, on the internet, of this being a working mechanic in the game.
You either are so retarded the AI is somehow affected by it, or it's a punshiment for pirate scum like you.

>how far in the plot
I'm just past the Litwicks and Giratina area, and doing generic dungeons at the moment. It just happened to me fifteen minutes ago in one of those plain forest-y dungeons where my partner went and chased a Deino that was perpetually off screen.

EVERY. FUCKING. TIME. I took a step, the game would pause, go and show the partner off fighting the Deino, and then jump back. I know this is intended in a turn based game, but holy fuck, when the partner has literally run to the other side of the dungeon and is getting its ass beaten, this is the single most frustrating thing in the world.

Initially I thought it was a feature- like the over-eager hyperactive personality was intentionally put into its AI, but then I had Deerling do the same thing and I fucking lost it.

They're clearly chasing the incidentally appearing monsters that roam the corridors as they inadvertently stay out of eyesight- but holy shit it is the single most disgusting christing shit I've ever experienced.

Here's what probably happened.

I shouldn't HAVE TO use my items or money trying to fix obvious programming flaws. My team should do what I tell them to exactly 100% of the time. This isn't negotiable. This isn't a design choice. The Pokemon either do what I tell them or they don't. If they don't, that's exactly 100% a fuck up of the programmers, case closed.

>lel git gud faggit

See, I'd agree with this line of reasoning if YOU COULD ACTUALLY CONTROL YOUR TEAM. If the player is in control of it, sure, then it's my own fault when this shit happens. But I've literally exercised the limits of my control over the game to prevent this from happening and it still does. There is no "Let me choose every move for every member every turn" option. At the end of the day, 2/3 of your team is controlled by a robot.

Yelling "git gud scrub" at someone who is completely beholden to poor AI isn't just stupid- it's completely inapplicable.

The AI isn't perfect but you clearly don't understand how to reign it in if you're the only person in the thread describing this as a major issue.

You know what I do when my partners walk away? I go after them so they go back to their default follow behavior, as opposed to walking away like a drooling idiot wondering why they're not following me anymore. Better yet, I let them walk around until one of us finds the stairs since the team forms up on every new floor.

That's right. You can control one teammate. Once. Per turn.

Every single move you make, 2/3 of your team moves of their own volition as determined by the AI.

The "git gud" argument literally just does not apply in this case because there is literally zero player control over all three characters at once. This is a basic fact of the game design.
>>
>>319626505
It is standard behavior and there is already an explanation ITT for why it happens. The OP is just making it sound worse than it is like a baby.

it sounds like you had it set on Let's Go Together, your partner was teleported or it aggroed on an enemy, you got away from it instead of following it, you set it on "follow me" and wondered why it wasn't following you from the other side of the dungeon, then you set it on don't use moves like it would magically teleport them by your side, went full on DSP and complained about how this game has trash AI for this one thing that happened one time and was entirely your fault because you don't understand game mechanics.
Next time, follow them before they get too far away, rush for the stairs, use a pure seed, use a rollcall orb, take control of your partner and move him away from danger, set it to follow me from the get go, be not shit at a game for 3 year olds, try to understand the concept that your teammates can't follow your tactics if they're not following you.

Are you too dumb to figure this game out or something?

Using Follow Me to bring your partners back doesn't work if you were stupid enough to let them wander. This is why you set Follow Me while they're still next to you and prevent the problem from occurring. They will not wander if Follow Me is active and they were right next to you when it was turned on.

Hey faggot

Let's go together doesn't mean what you think it means

The setting makes your partner behave like you do. Notice how they walk towards items when you don't tell them to? Notice how they attack enemies? Notice how they explore the dungeon?

They're going through the dungeon WITH you, as if they were doing what you would do. Don't like it? Turn on Follow Me and let them follow you like baby ducks before they're too far away to listen to you. I'll beat this into your head until you understand. Follow Me is the end-all solution to wandering AI when used properly. Shut the fuck up and fuck off.

>Follow me doesn't mean search for me

You're right
anon
it
means
>Follow
me

It would definitely be hilarious to have an anti-piracy that irreversibly sets all party members to fucking panic and run away
>>

exactly
which is why it will follow you
when it's set while they are around you
and not on the other side of the dungeon
where they can't follow you
because there is no you to follow
yet you seem like they should still follow you
even though they can't because you're not there
thus, you want them to search for you

You can still beat the game with only one Pokemon, though.

It would be ludicrously hard, but still possible.

>fucking panic and run away
it could be easy to do since the ability Run Away does basically that.
at least it did in older games
>>
>>319628719
Which is why you also make it so reviver seeds and apples never appear either

might as well make it so you gain half exp and the stair always appear on the last room you visit on the floor
and each room with the stairs is a monster house
