I bought this controller at a thrift store and I didn't realize it doesn't plug in normally through av cables. Does anyone know if this is a plug and play controller or just for some weird console?

I'll post a couple more pictures

It looks like a controller for one of those SUPER MEGASON mall kiosk consoles and/or some 3rd-party licensed character-based kids console
>>
Its probably for one of those TV plug and play things. There is a chance if it has batteries or whatever the power source is and you plug it into a TV a menu with a bunch of tetris and snake clones will show up.

looks like one of those "100 games in one" things that you plug directly into the TV, but the plugs aren't quite right--don't have the collar around 'em
>>
>>319622023
>>319622026
I'm thinking it probably is and honestly I wouldn't mind it. But it has audio output cords, or at least that's what it looks like to me
>>
>>319622165
try plugging it in anyway

worst case, your TV explodes, burns down the building, you get convicted of arson, and spend 5-10 blissful years away from 4chan

>>
>>319622261
I think ramming it into the plugs might not be a good idea but I guess I could try
>>
>>319621365
Yes, it's a plug and play. I think this kind has some sort of weirdo games on it, one of which uses the music of the NES version of Super C.

Was this in NJ?
>>
>>319621798
im sure thats a console thing, just try it on your tv
>>
>>319622317
in which case, he got his video games anyway. it's a win/win situation here

They're the same plugs that plug into a headphone jack, not RCA jacks. Why those chinks designed it like that nobody will know.
>>
>>319622392
Naw IL got it at a good will and thought I would get a good laugh out of 75 different sprites of Mario
>>
>>319622441
Maybe it's the revolution of gaming. You plug it into your headphones and you listen to the game instead of see it
>>
>>319622543
Aww, because I saw the exact same thing in an NJ thrift store. I think these things use modified NES hardware, as I recall the graphics being a fair bit more colorful than NES games, though still flickering like an NES game would.
>>
>>319622628
maybe it's a console for the blind

if it isn't, i just got an idea for a kickstarter

won't even need any pictures on the KS page
>>
>>319622694
Did they plug into a special kind of console or did they have some kind of TV? I'm really trying to figure out how I can get this thing working
>>
>>319622908
It plugged straight into the TV, though the plugs didn't look like headphone jacks.

>>
>>319623173
the answer is always "C: stick it in"
>>
>>319623215

Whatever it plugs into, it looks like it's at least designed to work in some way. The red plug has two bands on it for left and right audio, and the yellow has a single band for likely video. I think I remember older camcorders having plugs like this on them, but the other end would be regular RCA audio and composite to be able to output your recordings to your TV. Whatever it was designed to plug into, it was probably fairly proprietary.

>>319622995

You'll find 3.5mm sized headphone type jacks will generally fit into RCA plugs, but they won't really be able to do anything.
>>
One of the lines is audio, the other is carrying a video feed. What you have is a plug and play console with 50 knock of games or 20 bible games. In order to get the signal out of the line you have you will need a converter cable to turn it into a regular RCA/auxiliary cable.
>>
>>319623294
But these aren't av cables. I'll show you guys the cords and the TV plugs

They're not RCA plugs, they're 3.5mm jacks (AKA headphone jacks).
>>
>>319623215

That's extremely weird.
You'll need these and then it plugs into RCA jacks.

They really won't fit because they're not the right kind of cables. I probably do need something to change the cable type if that's a thing. Not just from male to female

It's a controller for a portable DVD player
very common with cheap as fuck DVD players
>>
>>319623806
Just jam it in, it will work fine. The jack will fit it
>>
The red cable is left/right audio and the yellow one is video. They have to be converted with an adapter.

why would someone need turbo for a dvd player

Portable DVD players had pretty shitty gaming hardware so turbo buttons were basically a requirement. You had to hold down the turbo button if you wanted the games to run at an acceptable rate of speed.

do you have regular a/v cords you don't use?

just cut your gamepad's cord and the av's cord, strip it them by like an inch and use a lighter to burn the wire coating (if it has any)

tie em up, put electrical tape on it and test it out.
