I bought this controller at a thrift store and I didn't realize it doesn't plug in normally through av cables. Does anyone know if this is a plug and play controller or just for some weird console?

It looks like a controller for one of those SUPER MEGASON mall kiosk consoles and/or some 3rd-party licensed character-based kids console
Its probably for one of those TV plug and play things. There is a chance if it has batteries or whatever the power source is and you plug it into a TV a menu with a bunch of tetris and snake clones will show up.

Aww, because I saw the exact same thing in an NJ thrift store. I think these things use modified NES hardware, as I recall the graphics being a fair bit more colorful than NES games, though still flickering like an NES game would.

Whatever it plugs into, it looks like it's at least designed to work in some way. The red plug has two bands on it for left and right audio, and the yellow has a single band for likely video. I think I remember older camcorders having plugs like this on them, but the other end would be regular RCA audio and composite to be able to output your recordings to your TV. Whatever it was designed to plug into, it was probably fairly proprietary.

You'll find 3.5mm sized headphone type jacks will generally fit into RCA plugs, but they won't really be able to do anything.
One of the lines is audio, the other is carrying a video feed. What you have is a plug and play console with 50 knock of games or 20 bible games. In order to get the signal out of the line you have you will need a converter cable to turn it into a regular RCA/auxiliary cable.

Portable DVD players had pretty shitty gaming hardware so turbo buttons were basically a requirement. You had to hold down the turbo button if you wanted the games to run at an acceptable rate of speed.
