In all honesty, Halo 3 Custom Games are where the joy of videogames died for me. I transitioned from that into Modern Warfare 2 and everything went to shit from then on.
Even Reach was pretty much hollow to me, Forge got too big and everyone stopped caring about the little things. Parkour maps and races were fun but nothing touched Warehouse.
Maybe one day Destiny will go somewhere and accomplish something in the spirit of Halo 3 but I sincerely doubt it.

Saw some discussion about whether humans and Forerunners were the same thing, some guy talking about the seawalls on the beaches in Metropolis and theorizing that global warming resulted in them being made but as people left to newly discovered planets the sea level decreased again, and a very interesting attempt to figure out exactly how many Pelicans were stationed onboard the Pillar of Autumn (I believe the final answer was 8).
There was one really funny thread talking about how the Pillar's structure makes no sense in relation to the levels in it, that elevator in The Maw is like 3 times taller than the ship itself.
