Why doesn't /v/ talk about racing games?
>>
because no new fzero game has been released
>>
>>319604064
I mean as in racing simulators
>>
because they're boring
>>
>>319604586
but many people love them, except here of course
>>
Because racing games have stagnated.

For years there were loads of titles for every niche of racing, be it simcade, rally, TURBOBOOST, car combat or what have you. Nowadays, racing games tend to just be focusing on simcade with the occasional street racer tuner title.

I'd be pretty hyped if a new Motorstorm came out, that series was the tits.
>>
Forza 6 is a good title, however the career mode is boring as fuck and the drivatars still haven't been fixed.
>>
How much longer until I can get Fast Racing Neo? It's already the Thursday here.

Because the only racing games i like are the ones where i can drive aggressively and pit maneuver my opponents and fuck them up.

There's no need to talk about them after Drive Club perfected the genre.

I loved the graphics of drive club

PGR perfected the genre, Drive Club copied it and added microtransactions

Ok want to discuss the uncertain future of Gran Turismo?
Or lament the death of F-Zero/WipEout?
Or post Eurobeat and Initial-D even though it has zero presence in the western market?
We can always argue that Forza is the better sim now than GT until the master race comes in and starts posting their Project Cars/Ass Corsa screens in response?

I really liked Forza Horizon, fun arcade game and great graphics for a 360 game.
I also replayed GT2 the other day, still fun to this day.

I'm a PCkek and while Assetto Corsa feels great to drive, it feels so sterile and lacking in content compared to Forza. I'd love it Forza 6 came over, but that ain't happening.

PC racing is lacking for good arcade titles, and racing sims are almost 100% limited to dedicated race tracks. Games like iRacing and rFactor 2 are also hellishly expensive even if they have good multiplayer.

Is the Crew dead on PC? Is it fun by yourself? Even if it isn't realistic, is the driving at least fun with a wheel? It's the only open world driving game that isn't Burnout Paradise which is unplayable on a wheel.

There are people playing it but it all depends what you're trying to get out of it. I played it mostly for the open world drifting after the expansion. The problem 90% of the drift cars incurable handling issues so I stopped being interested.

Once you hit 50 there isn't anything really left to do other than cruise around, pvp, or do the new summit events.
>>
>>319607973
I used to played the arcade machines and extreme stage 3 on ps3. Still the best driving game to date imo, it's got a pretty steep skill curve imo.

What did you mean by this? If they're hard to control, that's because you're drifting and drifting is hard.
>>319611281
Shit, it was 400 bucks off and I needed mobility because I'm a university student. Turns out it was a bad purchase but that's my defense.
>>

Because all of the recent additions are unfinished pieces of shit. To be fair, the price of games has not really changed for a while. $60 today is not the same as $60 seven or so years ago. So devs are pushed to create more shit for less money. It doesn't work that way. So the initial game is shit, and then they charge for dlc, so people get buttmad about extra cars and shit. So basically the devs are as retarded as the general consumer. Plus, the last four forza titles were underwhelming for this very reason (Horizon 1, FM5, Horizon 2, FM6). Forza 4 was the shit, but we will never see a racing game this great ever again. And don't get me started on the bullshit that is the revamped need for speed, and that abortion titled project cars.
>>
>>319613530
never have read a more worthless opinion on this site, ever.
>>
>>319612896
Like there isn't any real tuning in the game at all. Half of the cars that have available drift specs are super cars that have entirely too much down force and they feel terrible on load speed turns. Also a large portion of the cars have had an issue where the car just won't build revs at all while drifting in third gear. You'll turn in and begin to accelerate and you'll just watch as the revs continue to drop every time you're not at full throttle where as with the cars that handle well you're completely able to module the throttle to keep you revs up.

is it possible to learn how to drive better by playing with this set up all day?

Not really.

And a big part of driving a manual is the feel of it. You'll know if you're doing things right or wrong depending on how the car feels. That's something no racing sim can offer.

>>319614609

Because aside from the lack of F-Zero, there's nothing for /v/ to bitch and moan and argue about. 90% of the racing genre in the last ten years has been just okay. Not revolutionary, but not shit enough to cause controversy. The racing genre is relatively untouched by SJW's, censorship, cut content fiasco's, big business Konami style fuckery, and so on.

If there was an Undertale racing game for example, /v/ would be all over the genre, deconstructing every racer in the last 30+ years to prove why it's either the best or the worst in the genre, how tumblr is ruining their beloved racers, etc.

Basically, there's not enough shitpost potential. Pic related
>>
>always want to get into racing games
>get Driveclub cuz free
>load it up to play tutorial race
>car is a complete piece of shit
>handles like lard
>spend 2/3rds of the race jammed between 8 other cars because every car drives exactly the same
>retry for an hour thinking I'm missing something
>go online to check
>apparently this is how "core" racing games are supposed to feel
And then I stopped playing racing games.
I mean I get realism and step-by-step progression, but if I can't have fun with a game out of the box I'm not gonna bother.

So I guess I'm with everyone saying "they're boring" and "gimme F-Zero"
>>
>>319607973

I play Arcade stage 3 on Demul which can emulate NAOMI hardware as well as dreamcast, as well as the PSP version. I'm trying to get into TXRD2 and TXR3 too.

Racing games used to have loads of niche titles and genres, but they require actual effort and knowledge or have to be casual as hell. In the case of the former the normies can't handle it and in the latter they get bored and go back to cowadooty.

Modern games are permanently unfinished and shilled to death. Sure its pretty safe from sjws but there's all the marketing and other nonsense iust condensed into a smaller community.
>>
>>319619201

>not enough shitpost potential

M8, go read any iracing, assetto corsa or project cars forum, the shitposting is platinum-tier as fanboys fight pitched battles about whuch game is better rather than actually playing them.
