Yeah I've been looking into this myself. But there are programs that'll let you use your phone for VR games. I think one is called Moonlight, it streams games to your phone from your pc. I haven't tried it though.

If you don't use it it's a brick in your pocket, if you do use it it drain the battery so fast you end up having to pay attention to how much it has left at all times. It's also fragile, quickly made obsolete and takes a month to be tinkered with before it's remotely usable (the battery dies even faster if you don't debloat).
It's essentially a extra hobby rather than a device to improve your life. My dumb phone need to be charged once every two week, it get charged in 10 minutes or something and I listen to 32GB of music on it non-stop. I can also afford to break it right now and have a new one at the price of 3 meals.

Not that guy, I have a note 4, and I charge mine exactly once per day. While I'm sleeping. It retains the charge all day. I use it for GPS when I need it, to make calls and texts, obviously, to shit post while I shit, to do normie shit like confirm wedding invitations on Facebook, and I use it for work shit, like sending E-Mails.
Pretty much, it's my PC for the 60% of my day that I'm not at home. I get that for a NEET a phone is fucking useless. I probably wouldn't have one if I were one, but they're basically a digital utility tool.

You could stream video to a phone but lowest possible latency is super, super important for VR and there's no way to do it wirelessly at an acceptable level yet. This is why the Rift and Vive and every other headset requires a cable (or in the case of devices like the GearVR, a direct connection).
Also, that doesn't take into account that you need to use the phone as an input device, which would require another connection of some type and appropriate drivers.
