What emulator are you using?
Every emulator i try has a lot of framedrops unless i use the original psx resolution.
The faster one is the retroarch emulator but it has some issues with particles.

epsxe, it automatically maps DS4's right.
FPSE doesn't and I have to remap it every time, which sucks.
I could use mednafen, but I prefer extra bells and whistles over accuracy.
Is it worth seeing Xenogears to the end?
I stopped my playthrough quite a while ago when I first met Billy. I'm kinda enjoying the story but hating everything else. PS1 JRPGs are just too painful for me to playthrough these days. It was like when I played BOF3 as a child and loved the fuck out of it, but tried replaying it a few weeks ago and the random encounter rate made me want to kill myself

I didn't really like the story so the game didn't really stick for me, but the combat isn't too bad. It could've been improved a lot but seeing as a majority of FF games devolve into 'spam Attack and occasionally cast Curaga when you're dying' it doesn't look so bad in comparison

It's passable. It's not choppy, but it's not exactly smooth, so I'd say it's probably 24-25 or so.
The biggest issue is the draw distance, which really doesn't bother me that much.
