Why in the Witcher 3 does the lighting look gorgous in conversations but right when you leave it everyone looks minimally lit? When you talk to someone there's a small black screen as well as when you leave and it seems like thats used to apply the lighting. What's the point? There's no FPS drop when the lighting comes in and it looks much worse without it
Im shocked no one ever mentions this because its extremely jarring and noticable. I took this picture right after the conversation ends as an example.

In a conversation, characters are manually placed, and lights are arranged for an aesthetically pleasing main+secondary+rim setup. Outside conversations, lights have to come from visible light sources, look realistic, and show useful information to players.

it makes everything super washed out and fucks all the colors, like all the trees and grass become neon green.
with ultimate lighting mod, you have like 118 different lighting configuration you can load in real time, and a shitload of settings to tweak too.

The colors are fine. If anything they needed a tiny bit of dulling because they're really oversaturated in vanilla, at least in Velen.
I'll look up ultimate though, maybe I'll like it more.
