Play it with the style and weapon switcher, you'll get half your wish. I still prefer 4 because I think the characters add in the special edition add tons of replayability, and I think Vergil is an all around improvement, but DMC3 is my second favorite game of all time

I think if Capcom ever hired Kamiya he and Itsuno could do a damn good remake of DMC1, but I think it would take a lot of fucking work and I doubt the people who only prefer the 1st game would like the changes.
DMC3's combat was one of the best I've ever played. You have so much options... DMC4 is slower and has less weapons and styles.
I was really cool to make air combos in 3... 4 is just... too easy.

Why was 2 so bad after 1? I was having so much fun in 1 and 2 came along and I couldn't wait for it to end. Not even going back to do Lucia's missions.
3 is becoming my favorite quickly so far. Excited to make more use of gunslinger, been sticking to swordmaster.

DMC in general is trash with brain-dead punching enemies, inane "puzzles" that get in the way of the combat, and a shallow combat system that has you just cycling through your combos on punching bag enemies with no emphasis on timing, strategy, movement, or mechanical skill.
And yes, I did beat it on DMD. It's shit.
