Okay, let´s talk about KOF XIV real quick.

I think this game, it´s reception and it´s overwhelming effort represent a problem in the fighting game "community".

I honestly think KOF XIV is bastly superior to Street Fighter V or even Blazblue in terms of effort and overrall love for a franchise.

I know the graphics look bad for our current standards, and i would be lying if i said otherwise.

But look at the good things that KOF XIV has.
50 characters at launch, 60 frames per second godly gameplay, amazing animations for each desperation attack (Nothing compared to Guilty Gear Xrd, but still. Look at Kula´s desperation attack. Pretty cool.), colorful stages, etc.

Maybe this generation just focuses on graphics a little bit too much.

And yes, i´m mexican.

No, that is ass. Those graphics are bad. But don't care about that because KOF has ALWAYS looked sort of bad compared to the rest up until 12 and 13.
And what's better is, the gameplay seems a bit improved over 13 because they ditched the HD meter for some of the old shit back.

I'm going to buy and play the ever loving shit of that game, doesn't make it any less ok how these graphics look.

Like, I get it. 50 characters. They don't have time to work the kinks in all models.
But the texture work is bad.
And the modelling is atrocious. Iori and Kyo Kusanagi look nothing like they should look. Andy looks like a bad Virtua Fighter 4 knock off.
Chang looks fine.
Kula looks fine too.

They can do better and some models already look better.
Others are train wrecks, like the propotions of Leona's model, who is even more fucked up when you see Angel's ok model.

Has there even been a fighting game with really shitty graphics for the past 6 years? It's not something that you ever see people complain about because I don't think there has ever been another instance like with KOF 14.

I'm not disagreeing, I think graphics should be the last thing people complain about for a fighting game. It does matter for the casual audience though. The people that have actually played the game think it's quite good from a gameplay perspective.

KOF XIV does not look good at all. In fact, it looks like shit.

The only good thing about this new game is the gameplay, the gameplay is still solid.

Problem with that is, that people who played the demo noted how different characters have clearly different amount of detailing and finishing done and Andy's winscreen model was among the worst in the bunch.
I can admit that even the best of the bunch didn't look spectacular, but delivering a point using that picture, is kinda silly.

I haven't seen any gameplay with it being used yet, so I just assumed they meant it was like motw, but I mostly play GG anyways so instant blocking isn't really anything new to worry about. Also, I think the blowback wallbounces are counter hit only.
Personally, I'm excited as fuck to play angel since I thought she was gonna completely hit the bricks like most of the NESTS group so 14 is definitely on my buy list.

Graphically, you're correct.
Gameplay wise, you are not.

I like XIII and think amongst the EVO 2012-2014 entries, it was the most "honest" for lack of better way of putting it. However its combofest gameplay keeps it from being the superior KOF. In that regard, KOFXIV is definitely a step up without losing the aggressive rushdown style that KOF is notorious for.

That doesnt make a fighting game good. One of my main issues with Tekken is the insanely bloated cast. Eventually you start seeing fighters with very similar fighting styles like Christie and Eddy

That sounds *incredibly* bloated for a fighting game.

I remember disliking newer Tekken games because of the huge amount of character that all act and play largely to specific fighter archetypes.

And above all, it's not just that the graphics looks really bland, boring and bad. It's that is a FUCKING KING OF FIGHTERS GAME that looks awful. Seriously, XIII sprites were fucking spectacular, the absolute best in the business.

They went from those beautiful sprites that put 3rd Strike to shame... to this.

I'd say the reception to the new graphical style is very solid.

Does it really matter if there are characters who play somewhat similarly.
Allows people to pick between them based on looks and the little differences.

As long as there isn't huge issues with cast balance and the game isn't matchup fighter, I'm fine with it.

You sound like you played KOF13 for 5 minutes. KOF has always been the worst looking of the other SNK fighting games in terms of graphics. Just compare Garou and KoF99. It was acceptable because it always had a huge fucking roster, also throughout the whole series (aside from the shitty kyo clones and the kyokugen characters) almost all of the characters play differently
