Its listing is bugged in steam, but you can get all the DLC for $25 (retail+DLC=$45).

Some like to, I don't. A lot of the fun comes from the chaos of 3 other dudes playing with you, dropping shit everywhere. It's actually a lot more fun (if sometimes frustrating) to have 1 retard on your team.
Solo play can get intense though, especially when you fuck up on patrols. Starts to feel like EDF on the higher difficulties with the number of enemies. But if you're going to play solo exclusively? I probably wouldn't recommend it, since you need equipment that comes from higher levels to do it.

Yeah, Insect Armageddon. Most EDF fans don't like it because it's not really EDF. I think it's ok though, and really hurts with how short and little content there is.
Definitely the weakest of the EDFs, but not as terrible as people make it out to be.
