SR 2 > SR 4 > SR 3 > SR 1
SR 1 is basically a GTA clone
SR 2 is the sweet spot between seriousness and the wackiness the series would eventually be known for
SR 3 is the wackiest and the worst written and overall just not very enjoyable if you've played SR 2
SR 4 is much closer to 2 in terms of tone despite the overall setting, and the writing is much better than SR 3. The gameplay is quite different though

If you stop world-hunger and countries over-populate they no longer have the issue of lack of food, you have already fixed that issue we have with over-population.
The world was once empty and shitty, but look where we are now? Other shitty countries can achieve the same, and with food being no issue, farming land can be exchanged for more useful things.

I know the future can't be predicted, but if world hunger is solved i see no issues with over-population, earth is still full of land, and if the problem grew to large, precautions would be put in place.
As for the problem with curing cancer, i mean't the actual choice. It's useless. I could discover the cure for cancer tomorrow, and if some fucktard president chose that option without knowing, he would have just wasted the other choice.
Putting an end to world hunger is something we will probably never achieve by luck, so it's best to take the hardest option and increase the odds of the cure for cancer being found.
