It's a thing and it's pretty fun. It's TF2 without hats and a few of the beta weapons added in. It also has deathmatch and a mode where there are four teams.

I remember liking TFC when I first got a computer worth shit for games, it was fun, but I got shit stomped, wasn't dedicated enough, and could barely see anything thats going on.
For years, when I still liked TF2, I was holding out for a 3rd team and a 10th character class to make a big splash.

Sometimes it was just the most god awful shit that is no surprise no one is playing, but when you have that many people all more or less on the same page as you, it got pretty fun.
