Guys, I don't want to interrupt whats going on here but I figured this would be the place to get the answers I'm looking for.
I've just recently (as of 2 days ago) taken the plunge into this series and picked up P3. I am enjoying it far, far more than I anticipated I would. Visual novel + dungeon crawler is so far out of my comfort zone I cannot stress how odd it is that its working this well for me here.
So I want to know what fans think of P4 and now the upcoming 5. Especially in regards to 3. The increase in apparent production value is an immediate plus for me, but I'd hate to get further into this series at a time where it abandons roots for wider audiences or some shit like that.
Seriously A+ art style for these games though.

Fans of P3 and P4 due to how opposite the atmosphere is in them and the characters. People are hyped for P5 but after two delays, the hype is starting to die down to range for waiting 2 FUCKING YEARS ATLUS.

You should play P3FES. Also, P4 introduces far more unbelievable characters, a silly story, and more anime cliches that dragged a lot of weeaboos in and is what made the game series so "popular". It's the reason that nine times out of ten, most "fans" of the series started with P4, probably haven't even played P3 or lower, and why there have been TWO anime series for P4 and a number of spin-off games. Chie is my waifu, but P4 is objectively inferior anime shit compared to P3.

Welp. Watched a bit of a lets play to see what I'm missing and yeah. Had no idea the PSP version got rid of walking around on top of what I had read.
I honestly don't mind what I'm missing. Not in light of my current playthrough being as far as it is anyway. If/when I play again I'll be sure to play FES though. Really should have looked into it a bit more but hesitation is what has kept me from the series for the decade or so my friend has been insisting I try it.
So yeah, I did rush into this but I'm not really regretting it.

What they should've done is let fusion skills be paired to skills, not demons, and let you use your skills with a party member's to perform stronger or different spells. It provides another element to party composition; determining which party members' skills work best with your array of skills.
