Why can we only emulate the playstation 2/xbox generation(and earlier) consoles? How come we can't emulate xbox 360, ps3, xbox 1, ps4 etc.?

Short answer: You ´re trying to emulate hardware throu software, that takes quit alot of power, and the more powerful machine you´re trying to emulate, the more it takes.

That's not how it works.
Software emulation is 1:1 perfect emulation
You're thinking of hardware emulation which isn't 1:1 perfect replica of the original because it has many enhancements such as antialiasing, higher resolution and so on.
Just because the game doesn't run at 15 fps and 240p doesn't mean it's somehow worse than the original you fucking retard.

Because we don't have enough coders with free time who are interested in programming one. If you also worked as a game dev on any of these consoles, you are legally bound to not code anything on an emulator.

You´ll probably never be able to emulate the current gen of consoles on the current gen of PC, since more powerful consol = more power needed to emulate it. Unless PC makes a big jump ahead that consoles can´t keep up with due to various issues, you´re gonna have to settle for at the best, 1 generation behind the current one.

X360 and PS3 emulators have been moving along nicely.
We have Wii emulation already which is from same generation as X360 and PS3.
We also have a working WiiU emulator already as well (still very much work in progress but some games are perfectly playable already).

3DS emulation is also moving along nicely.
Also Xbone and PS4 will be easier to emulate than X360 and PS3 were.

512x448 if we are to be precise, that's the framebuffer resolution that Ace Combat trilogy uses.
Anyhow still better than PS2 simply because no framerate drops and you get proper widescreen thanks to widescreen patch.
Also Hardware mode is perfectly playable too, it has only 2 bugs left. Distant islands/land flicker and your plane (and only your plane) appears untextured, but otherwise is fully playable and you can perfectly play it in the first person camera view without ever seeing the glitched plane textures. PCSX2 got a new dev earlier this year who decided to COMPLETELY REWRITE THE GSDX RENDERER FROM SCRATCH and it's thanks to him that we can now play technosorcery games like Ace Combat, MGS3 and Snowblind Engine games (Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance, Champions of Norath)

Of course you will be able to, the only limit right now is hardware, any one smarter than me correct me if I´m worng in this statement:

When you emualte your asking your processor to create a system in itself, this is like asking you to create a new person inside your own mind and have it live a life of its own, you see how insane this is. Imagine how much of your energy it would take to do this as well as keep yourself going. Also, it easier to emulate older stuff because it does not require as much power, comparing this to you creating a earthworm in your mind which live its own life

This game took literal fucking technosorcery to work on PS2 seriously.
Not only does it run NATIVELY at almost 4:3 equivalent of 1080p, it also has Pixel Shader 3.0 effects which should be impossible to do with PS2's hardware.

What the fuck did you OC your 4790k to that you get dips?
My fucking 2600k at 4.4GHz plays MP Trilogy perfectly. I'd give you an ingame screenshot if I still had the game on my hard drive so you will have to settle for CPU-Z screencap.
Other than that I've got 780 Ti factory OC'd but GPU is least important in emulation.

Dolphin dev is a fucking autist that threw YEARS of progress out because the code came from contributors instead of himself, which causes a massive setback to development of the emulator. That was around the time 4.0 came out.
Try hunting down final build of 3.5 for better performance in most games. Some will be glitchier though obviously due to lacking modern updates.
But really Dolphin dev is a fucking imbecile, and he also hates Intel by the way and shills AMD.
Try asking for the Intel build fork on /emug/ that has special Intel optimizations that the butthurt dev cut out of the emulator to favor AMD.

Given the famous 'driver hall of shame' post in the development blog I find it hard to believe the developer is a fanboy making technical changes for political reasons. Sometimes pulling out optimizations that cause problems is necessary even if it leads to temporary slowdowns.

Vulkan and OpenCL 2 should really help emulator developers with the kind of low level support that they've needed.

They did. Did you miss the part about me mentioning the Intel fork? Anyhow I don't know the full story but go on /emug/ and ask and I'm sure someone will be autistic enough to give you an in-depth breakdown of the shitstorm that happened behind the scenes.

As for OpenCL 2 and Vulkan, OpenCL didn't amount to jack shit in Dolphin (performance boost was virtually non-existant) so I'm not holding out hopes for that. Vulkan on the other hand seems like could be just another dead on arrival API just like Mantle.

Sounds more like a patch set than a fork. Usually if management of an open source project is bad people will fork it completely, users will move to the fork and the original will be abandoned. This can happen within weeks in some cases. With Dolphin that hasn't happened.

Vulkan is Mantle 2.0, just like every modern graphics API is this generation. Mantle supported one generation of one companies graphics hardware on one OS. Vulkan supports every hardware vendor on all open platforms.
