Typically, there aren't more women in XYZ because either women don't like XYZ or women aren't good at XYZ.
Take competitive video games, for example. The #1 go-to complaint is "People insist that women aren't real gamers, will test them at every opportunity, and will pick on them if they get mad"
That is DEFAULT BEHAVIOUR for anyone playing competitive games. Men imply that each-other are casual fuckers, constantly strive to prove themselves better than others, and mercilessly troll anyone who gets mad. Women experiencing constant attacks and criticism are being treated as equals, since that is how men treat each-other.
The biggest complaint I have about women in gaming is that a guild that invites the guild leader's GF, or a server owner that invites his GF to play,
