It doesn't help that Lana was like a self insert of a 14 year-old girl with a DA account, and the character acted like she was always around, I was fucking shocked when she was the one to rush to Link's aid in the Cia castle chapter instead of Zelda.

It was clearly Bamco and Nintendo trying to create a new character and failing at it. It's pretty much in the exact same vein as Linkle, frankly.
I mean, there's a bunch of OC's and it's clear that they were all created in a 'throw shit at the wall and hope it sticks' thing to see how Zelda fans reacted to the idea of new major characters beyond the usual Link/Zelda/Ganondorf triad.
I just figure if it was someone who'd actually worked on a Zelda before designing the characters, we might've had OC's that people cared for.

WW stuff, Linkle, Ganondorf's trident, and now these fairy gals, might be Hyrule Legends exclusive for a good while, to push the sales of Legends, and maybe a while later they might come to Wii U as DLC.At least I'm hoping it will, I don't want to dole out money for the 3DS version of a title I already own in Wii U.

The only one anyone "hates" is Lana, and even she has her fans. The three villains - Cia, Volga, and Wizzro - I've seen no hate for them period since the game came out. Some people don't like how one or the other controls in battle, but that's not dislike for the actual character.
Lana book is fun as hell. If she has a less important role in the story and keeps her damn kawaii uguu mouth shut, I think most people would agree that she should return for any possible sequels.

You're not wrong about reasons to dislike Lana, and I agreed with basically every one of them (except that Skull Kid costume, unf) and was really disgusted by Lana and ready to hate her before playing the game.
And then I tried her out, and found that she's actually amazing to play, and, well... gotta call a spade a spade, man.
Once I finished the storyline, her terrible personality and weird plot focus didn't matter that much. I spent the next 200 hours or so doing generic missions and having a blast with her.

Yes, and all modes are 100% complete without using glitches or exploits. I fully finished each map with the level cap that was in place at the time of release, and I also constructed at least one perfect weapon of every type, including the 8-Bit variants. In total, in took me about700hours.

I'm probably most effective with Book Lana. Before maxing all the levels, she was at a significantly lower level than everyone else, and I still had no trouble destroying all of her missions. I don't think I ever had to grind with her.

There are hundreds of 15-30 minute missions, and you often have to play extremely well in order to fully unlock everything. It eats up time like nobodys business. But the mission variety and number of characters rarely make it feel entirely too boring, assuming you like this type of game anyway.

I spent 350 hours to 100% it and there's definitely a ton of stuff to do, there's around 500 individual missions, most of which can last ten minutes or longer.
