To be honest, having the Hero from Dragon Quest X would make even more sense than Cloud. As Dragon Quest X is a major MMO on both Wii and Wii U.
The problem is, SquareEnix goes out of its way to block Dragon Quest in the west. But still, it would hardly be the first character in Smash Bros based on a game only in Japan.
It could also be good because the alternate costume could be the female version. It could also be good as free advertising for DQX before a western launch. All things that will never happen because SquareEnix is too stubborn and prideful.

Parallax sweeps a huge line out of the way which is nice, but the real kicker is Helm Splitter and his charged attacks. Like in the stage where you need to defend those two villagers in Isla's town, and a green dragon shows up at the end? Hit an enemy with Helm Splitter and knock them down and each fully charged swing on his YYY combo will do at least 700 per swing (and I'm only at like level 35 right now)

That's the joke. His super-strong power was never truly his, it was Dhuran's enhancements. Terry's entire backstory revolves around being too weak to make a difference in a fight, got the shit kicked out of him, and thus Milly gets taken into slavery and probably raped or at least tortured. He spent his entire life from that point on trying to get stronger to find her, save her, and get revenge on those who hurt her, but became so lost in his pursuit of power that he forgot why he even wanted to get stronger in the first place. He doesn't even recognize his sister when you first meet him. This is why Terry in DQM warns you when he does (though it's probably not/alt canon, given how DQM2 happens and all), because he realizes he fucked up and likely recognizes you post-fight.

Also, Nevan may be Brainy Smurf, but he can kick some ass in a fight, and is the only male human who can use the echo hat for those sweet ass double blazemosts/kafrizzles.

Once again, since people can't read, if Alena was Russian in the original version of the game, then making her Russian would make sense. Eh, this argument doesn't really work at all. Japanese doesn't use accents in entertainment, they use dialects.Take MGS Peace Walker for example, they all spoke in perfectly normal Japanese in the Japanese version, but had clear Spanish accent in the English version because it made sense to give it to them. They didn't have to do it, but it's a case of localizers going above and beyond. Adding accents is fine as long as it makes sense (and if the game is set in a fantasy world, there's no real reason why these particular people can't have a Russian accent), and isn't obnoxious. Unfortunately, Plus Alpha fails at that second part. They don't try to add anything with accents, not like the MGS example. They just shove them into games for some misguided attempt at being creative, and they lay it on thick, which isn't hard to read if you're a native English speaker, but it does get annoying. Balancing accents in text can be difficult, because go too far and it'll just be obnoxious.

The Japanese script may have simply had Alena say 'I like to fight'. But then the western localization made her say 'Fighting is spirit that makes me swell with pride'.
Oh sure, they sound similar at first glance. But contextually, they're miles apart. One is just a statement Alena makes about fighting. The second one makes her sound like her entire self worth is tied to fighting.
Now add up about 100 of these 'slight' changes and you basically develop a whole different view of the character than the original creator intended.
