yes, this is the ultimate N+ experience. A lot of customazability (you can have different background color schemes for instance) and surprisingly fleshed out co-op. Like, they didn't even need to add all the shit they did to make the co-op fun, but they did.
This is the last ever N+ game (the devs said so) so it's the most featture rich. My previous N+ was also the DS version.

People can generally handle a slow trickle of DLC after a game is released (look at the sheer number of people still slurping on Payday 2's salty and acrid junk), Helldivers didn't launch on PS4 with all of it's DLC available day 1, despite the fact that all of the DLC was good to go for the PC release it still should have still been drizzled out over the course of at least three months, maybe one pack a week.

Yeah, they fucked up by releasing all of it at once.
It made sense for the PS4 since it was a steady stream of new content, but for PC now it's just 40 bucks of what looks like day 1 DLC.
It's a shame, because the game itself is actually pretty good.

Looking through all of these there are some quite fun and important looking ones in the DLC items. Makes me worried that I'll feel like I have to get the dlc if I buy this.

Just wait for the christmas sale and if it's good, buy the deluxe edition. There's not really a point to buying the base game unless you think you won't like it.

I play almost exclusively on PC and I have to admit, we don't buy games. I don't know why because looking at piracy numbers it's not as high as devs would like you to think.
Only played a couple of hours so far. Is it just me, or is Helldivers extremely shallow? I've only seen two types of missions so far, the "Walk around a generic map and do x at point z while shooting unending waves of cannon fodder enemies" and the arena style maps. Is there more to this? Bosses? Base defense?

No bosses yet, highest difficulty I've been playing has been "Very Challenging" or something, which is slightly over 50% according to the difficulty bar.
So far, arena maps have been WAY more difficult than the larger open maps.
