What the fuck happened?
They released the same game twice, plus you left out the handheld games.
Despite the scores, the series peaked with 2. First game was pretty decent, second game had some of the best spectacle I've seen in vidya, third game was basically 2 in 1080p, and Ascension was wank that shoehorned multiplayer in where it wasn't needed.

I disagree 3 was alot better than 2.
Two had only 2 cool bosses in shadow warrior and invis fucker I forget his name and the whole locale was so boring and gray.
3 had some great looking locations and easily the best sub weapons in the game. They were all reskinned blades of chaos (except the baller gauntlets) but you had Slow/Fast/Normal/Heavy
It also had the best boss deaths (Helios and Poseidon).

that being said, if they make another god of war it would have to be about someoone other than kratos. i mean, what gods are even left for kratos to kill?
Ascension had some flaws, you could see it was there just to try and sell the multiplayer, but god of war is a game that works well with multiplayer shit.
The series is still not dead per se, maybe we will still get that god of war game in the nordic setting they promised ages ago with a new protag.

I agree that it is the worst in the series but it really wasn't THAT bad
Also the graphics were great, probably the most impressive game on PS3. Sony should have just delayed it and made it a PS4 launch title at 1080p/60fps.
I want a cultural exchange where Platinum makes the next God of War game, and Santa Monica gets Bayon3.
I think kratos is one of the most unluck fuckers when it comes to powerups.
Both dante and bayonetta are like gods at the end game, meanwhile kratos:

But I love how cool the devs are with that. It would be so simple to make his new powers a red hash of his old ones, but each game, they manage to give home new abilities and weapons that makes him unique to his previous self.
GoW felt more akin to double dragon or a worse zelda clone than Darksiders than DMC.
I never felt like I had to put effort into anything in 1 or 2 and one of the psp ones I played. And the "combos" felt unintuitive

People kept bitching that GoW isn't hard enough so they added some extra mechanics and made enemies super aggressive to break people's balls. Building up rage and keeping combos was a lot harder than previous games.
