Nope, his level and stats are far too low. You'll eventually have to fuse him. Even Daisoujou, who is fucking amazing, only lasted up to the 4th Kalpa for me.

Oh right, my bad. You have to fuse a Mitama with the skill you want, then fuse it with the demon you want to have the healing skill (they need a blank slot of course.) It takes money and some time but it's worth it. SMT Nocturne's major limiting resource is money. Even doing the lucrative side missions and shit I ended up money grinding for fucking ages just to afford higher level fusions.

Yeah, the Kalpas lead to the fight with the major bosses and the True Demon Ending. I'd strongly recommend getting Magma Axis on Demifiend for the Beelzebub fight because honestly that's the hardest goddamn Kalpa fight of all and it's worth devoting a whole slot for it.
And don't feel any shame for looking up maps and guides for the Kalpas, they're fucking brutal even WITH maps.

One of the shady merchants in the Labyrinth will try to sell you a Girimehkala for a shitload of macca. Get it, because it's the only way you can get Pierce for your demons. Makes a New Game + a WHOLE lot easier too.

I carried White/Red Rider through the entire game and most people tend to carry Daisoujou all the way to the end, and he's like lvl 38 IIRC
Later on you'll be able to get some crazy shit though, so you may change your mind. I ended up with White/Red Rider, Trumpeteer, Michael (finished to fast for Tron), and a really souped up Thor in my final party
When are they going to release another big SMT game for consoles?
Super Pixie, Michael, and Metatron were my final party for TDE.
They were mostly buffers,healers, and extra press turns for the Demifiend show though.
